Spend extra coin and get quality mags. They are not good mags I have heard of and seen feed lips break on their mags. I had some AK promag mags the feed lips broke on I would not recommend them especially with the price of GI, pmag or troy mags the price they are.

People on the internets say ProMags are trash.

Hardcore Tier One guys @ the gunshow say they are pieces of shit.

LOL but in all seriousness, I have never heard anything good about them.

And w/ Magpul PMAGS, GI, And Troy mags being the same price,

I never have, and never will own one.

Every ProMag I've ever owned required extensive file work to even get it to do what was advertised. I bought some of the Colt 9mm SMG mags and promptly sent the first set back. The ones I received were worse, but at that time it was $50 for the OEM ones or PM's. Had to shave 2mm's off the rear spine just so the magazine body wouldn't activate the bolt hold open when inserted. Frequent nose dives of the top 3 rounds, bolt over misfeeds, and just plain old feeding multiple rounds.

I have 20, Steel 20 round Mini 14 promags, they ALL work just as well as the factory mags(of which I have 10). No tweaking required, just load and shoot. My Mini's must be broke. (1985 GB folder, 1997 GB)

I bought several of the 20-round Mini 14 Promags when the factory mags were virtually unavailable and rediculously expensive when you could get them.

Half would not even lock into the magwell, the rest could not feed 3 rounds in a row without a double-feed jam.

To their credit, 44mag.com took them all back without hesitation. I bit the bullet (pun) and ponied up for factory 20s, which never failed to feed.

Put me in the "Promag = junk" column.

I bought a couple Mini 14 poly ProMags back when Ruger mags were hard to get and expensive also. Neither would feed right from the start. But I do have to say that one phone call to ProMag and they sent me an RMA and had new mags in my hands in about 10 days. (SureFire could take a CS lesson from these guys.) Unfortunately I never even broke the seal on the replacements and they are still sitting in my gun room, so I can't say if they were any better than the ones sent back. Factory Ruger mags went on sale soon after and I bought a bunch.

Regarding your question though, PMags would be my choice. Even if the other mags were only $5 each....

The only Promag's i have is for my Walther PPK? It works and haven't had any jams.

Don't know about rifle mags made by them.

Throwing my .00002 cents in here.

I had a promag for a mini-14 long long ago and it worked fine.

I had a few promag's since for a variety of other firearms (these followed used weapons) and although many of them would feed a few rounds in the pipe most of the time, i simply couldn't rely on them. The do malfunction way more than any mil mag ever did.

The PLASTIC ones are complete junk.

Somebody gave me some AR-15 mags they found in a storage shed thy had been renting.
Among the Colt 20s and USGI 30s were two Promag 30s.
One worked fine and the other always jammed, I shot 'em both at 100 meters.

I have some ProMag AK magazines that work fine for range work... but I would also like to get rid of them because I have other, much better magazines.

Not an employee but recommend DSG's 10-30 round mag deals. They are GTG and priced right.

Why would the feedlips on a metal mag break?
