Fixed front sights
New to AR's. I am going to put a 1x4 on my colt6920 and was wondering if the sight will get in the way? Can the sight be removed?
Might be able to see it on 1-2x but not above that. I would guess the scope is going to sit high enough that the front sight will be in the lower portion of the scope and not interfere but I may be wrong. The front sight could be modified by being cut down or replaced with a low profile gas block. The first may be done without removing it at all, the second will require removal of the flash hider if there is one.
Is there a scope mount that will clear the front sight base even if its at 1x?
If you want to use a chin weld, you can probably mount it higher than the front sight, but your accuracy will suffer. I have a 1-4 and the front sight is a non issue at any magnification. I suppose it could be if I obsessed on the front sight instead of looking where I should.
