STR........I had a ACS and didn't like the extra length of it.

Isn't it only about a inch difference?

I just ordered an STR last night over the ACS. Although I have to admit I probably will own an ACS at some point in the future on another build... but it will be a while till I get to that.

Roughly yes, enough that I didn't care for it.

I'm kinda thinking the same thing, may be ar10 and get the acs later.

I had the ACS––now I have the STR––-the cheek weld seems better, its a bit lighter––and over all is asthetically more pleasing to my eye.

I've got ACSs and CTRs right now and one thing I found I like about the ACS is the first position (fully close) is very usable to me, more so than the CTR.

I have an ACS and like the cheek weld. My present build I wanted to try something else. I was thinking about the STR and wasn't sure about some concerns I had which you just answered, actually all three.

You just helped me make my decision, STR for me.

I've got an ACS, and while I really like it, it is HEAVY. I am considering going to something lighter, but not sure what yet.

That looks great, but what happened to the foliage? That foliage thread, the one you posted a lot in, inspired me to build my last one foliage

OP, what size rifle do you have? I think it matters if you care about balance. I have a 16" midlength and even though the ACS stock is considered heavy by some, it balances my rifle how I like it. I love the cheekweld on it. On my next gun which will be 11.5 or 12.5, I'll probably get the STR.

mine is the standard 16" carbine, its a piston so its a little heavier in the front that i'd like. so maybe the STR will make it balance a better.

shot my STR today with the .70 asspad, must say, it feels good. balanced out my quad. if say the weight is now 60/40, with full mag.

I've had this thing for at least a year now. I am thinking more along the lines of a CTR. I will probably go with something like a Samson Evolution to lighten up the front.

Looks good skt!

+1 on the cheeks, it gives me a more natural line of sight.

Just installed an ACS on my 16" midlength POF. Chose it because I liked the looks and also thought it might help to balance out some of the gun's front weight.
I like it alot better than the Vltor Modstock.

Just got my ACS today, replacing an CTR. It does balance a bit better, but I doubt I would have noticed it if some of you guys didn't mention that benefit. The main plus for me was the trap door storage. Battery tubes are nice, just hope they stay sealed since I have no expierence with this storage style at all.

Lets see how she handles on the range and in the car before I make anymore proclamations regarding the stock...

The way the battery compartments stay closed also concern me on mine. So far they havent opened but I keep checking them just in case. Besides that I am really liking the stock!

Has anyone installed a QD swivel on their ACS stock? If so,what are your thoughts on doing so?
Thanks,
Clint
