Sorry if this is posted a lot about this particular light. I tried to search but didnt find much.

I am going to buy a Daniel Defense AR tomorrow and the shop Im buying it from has Surefire M951 lights for pretty cheap so I am planning on picking one up. Any complaints with this light? I see the lumens arent the highest but everything Ill be using it for will be 50 yards and under.

Great light. Built Luke a tank. If need more lumens then buy malkoff m60 drop in.

It's big. Heavy. I don't care. I have one and freakin' love it! It's been banged up against barriers, hit the dirt hard when I'm going prone, and just abused in a general manner. Still works like a champ.

Great light and tough, and the LED drop in is sweet. I have the 3 cell M-96 series (I think) and it has served well.

This. I used mine with the normal Surfire LED lamp for quite a while and it is more than adequate for indoor use. I eventually got the Malkoff 260 lumen drop in just in case I want to shoot something outdoors.

The M951 is super tough and very versatile. The best part about it is the ability to use a tape switch AND push button in the even the tape fails or gets unplugged. Definitely go for it.

+1 The M951 with Malkoff drop-in makes a fantastic weapon light.

I added the TVNC TLS TX4 600 lumen head, super bright and a lot of spill. I wished it had a tighter cone but the light output increase from the stock bulb was amazing. Still a heavy light but runs like a champ. I originally had the head on my surefire 870 foregrip, it lasted almost 2 years of almost constant slug abuse and finally kicked the bucket. TVNC's customer service was great and exchanged it no questions asked. Now it's on my AR, much less recoil so I'm sure it'll last much longer.

I have two. I like them. I do need to upgrade the lamp though.

How much are they? You can get a new X300 for about $200.

I ran one for years before I switched to an X300. It was like taking a brick off the front of my gun.

Depends on what you want the light to do. As I mentioned above, the M951 allows you to have both a tape switch AND a momentary and constant on clicky switch. It also has better heat management and the ability to accept filters. It is also a lot heavier.

i have one with a Malkoff M60 drop in. Too big and heavy for my tastes, but it works fine on my M&P 15-22. Would rather just use a Scout light or VTAC L4.

Big, heavy, arguably dated technology. And one is mounted on each of my 16" carbines with another 951 on a shelf waiting for a gun.

I don't like the amount of real estate they take on a rail. I do like the durability, versatility of switches & filters, and the ability to share bulbs with my 6P @ G2. That's nice if you favor incandescent stuff.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I bought one today with the AR I picked up and I love it! I plan to buy another one soon as long as the shop dosent sell out!

Sorry for the bad pictures. I took them real quick with a GoPro.

Where can I find one of these? All I keep finding is the m61. Will the m61 work?

I own the M951 and yes, it is a bit on the heavier side compared to some of the other Surefire models, but I still LOVE it!

I did upgrade to the LED lamp and replaced the thumb wheel mount it came with to the QD throw lever one.
I also replaced the velcro mount tape switch that came with it with the rail mounted/dual button one.

Yes, I did change a lot of the stuff that came with the light, but that was just personal preference...what came with/on it was perfectly fine for most.

I wouldn't hesitate to pick one up for the right price.

don't have experience with other sure fires so I can't talk about that, but I had the same one for 3 tours and it held up. Gave it to a kid getting ready for his first trip when I got out, I'd guess its still running

Love mine. The standard bulb bit the dust a while back and my new P60L will be here tommorow. Along with my new dual button switch so I can run the light and my PAQ4 together. Ill post pics and a review. Yes its heavy but I'm used to it. All the extra weight helps with recoil. Besides, the .mil gave me one and I ran the same setup on my issued rifle for years. I would feel ackward if I didn't have the tank on my personal gun. And the throw lever makes it nice if I do want to run a lightweight gun for whatever reason

I picked up one off of Ebay about 4 months ago for $75 without a tape switch. I shot with it last night for the first time and found that 50 yards can be done but is pushing it with the standard head so Malkoff here I come.
