Colt LE6920 in need of a tac light and mount

Hey guys, the "yote's" are getting braver on my farm lately so it may be time they met Mr. Colt. I have a 6920 with the standard plastic hand guards and want to mount a quality light up front without having to get a rail and all that other bs. Just looking for a quality mount that will clamp around the barrel tube and that I can hook say a Surefire up to.

Mount advice?

Mount and light advice? I'll be shooting from 10-30 yards with iron sights.

try the fairly cheap rail that mounts into the cooling slots of the M4 hand guard (may require the removal of a heat shield). I had one before the knights armament rails - mounted my SF M600 to it - held up well & you could add a forward grip too... Never been a fan of direct barrel mounts/clamps..

Do you mind mounting it on the front sight base? Midwest Industry has a small rail that you can install on the FSB and then you can attach a flash light to it using cheap 1" scope ring.

Look into the Elzetta ZFH1500. It's a light mount that attaches to the FSB. I have one on my rifle and it is very rugged and doesn't require and modifications to the rifle as long as you have a standard FSB. They also have a series of lights, the Elzetta ZFL M60, that will fit into the mount that have a pretty good reputation for standing up to abuse and will serve as a good weapon light. While I can't speak personally for the ZFL M60 other than what I've read, as I have a Surefire G2 mounted in mine, I would not hesitate to buy one for my next weapon light.

Hope this helps

The FSB - mounted Elzetta will not fit OP's FSB, because 6920's FSB is equipped with the lateral swing swivel.

You could spend $29 + shipping for a Magpul handguard and you can then attach a small piece of rail on it to mount a light.

Serious question: if it's just for shooting coyotes and other varmints, why not just get a couple of those long, heavy duty cable ties and jus tie up a flash light on your hand guard? Seriously. I've done it - just make sure your flashlight is located on the side where your thumb is at when holding the handguard; otherwise, you may have a hard time manipulating the flashlight's button (the flashlight I used was a 6P LED).

Mine didn't require removing a heat shield.

If you like or use a hand forward grip check out the mossie midnight mount. Not all lights can be mounted that way but I am testing one currently and it is nice.

You can also go with a barrel block or a piece of rail bolted onto the handguards.

If you insist on a barrel mount, check these guys out:

www.tuffzone.com

Go to the "mount" section and they have all kind of barrel mounts for cheap and easier to install than any other options given above. Granted they are Airsoft, but for shooting coyotes, I don't think those varmints would mind so much that they're being illuminated by a flashlight mounted on a cheap Airsoft crap.

Best bet is to buy a small rail 1inch to 2 inch
Drill out the M4 HG
Buy a Viking Tatics mount and a surefire

What about a mount from Impact Weapons?

I just got a bayonet lug rail for my LE6920 from Botach a few weeks ago and I it is a pretty good solution IMO. It goes on a bit tight, but it works.

Get one of these:

Streamlight flashlight mount

Then you can mount it at 10:00 (if you're right handed) and use a 1" scope ring to secure a Surefire G2L or similar.

If you really want to be cool, you can mount it at 12:00 and use a VTAC offset flashlight mount.
