Looking at one at the fun shop. Looks like a good light to mount on my rifle at a decent price. 200 lumens works for me. Any thoughts or suggestions? thanks guys.

Glad to hear that. I just got in a G2x and I am wanting to put it on my AK. It is good to know it is a decent light.

i'v been useing the G2X just as a handheld for duty use for a while. looking to mount one on my carbine too.
I have had one of the old G2s on another rifle for a while. works great, but the G2X is MUCH brighter.

people that have it mounted, have you found a tap switch for it, or are you just useing the tail cap?
I want a tape switch for my carbine, only thing keeping a G2x off my patrol rifle.

Surefire doesn't make a tapeswitch for the G2X because they do not reccommend them for weapon mounts. The reason is the batteries are in direct contact with the circuit board on the head of the flash light. In therory that means the batteries can beat the board till it cracks under recoil. Older G2's the bulb contacts batteries via a spring.

that said, I'd do it.

awesome

I need to do it to my spare M4

Are you going to use a FVG so you can use your thumb in order to use light.?

you could mount it up above if you arent going to use FVG

Lots of guys have been using them, but Surefire would be well within their rights to deny a warranty repair on a light that was damaged due to weapons mounted use.

Of course, being Surefire I could see them fixing it for you anyway.

Yeah I'm going to get a FVG. That's why I got the DD offset mount.

Only thing I don't like is that the tail cap does not CLICK and stay on. Do some other models have that option? Or do all surefires use the turn tail cap for constant on?

I've had one on my M4, for about 2 years now. No complaints and the 200 lumens is really great.

Well Fuuuuuuuuu. I sent Surefire a email to make sure the Z59 would work with my light. Here is what I got back from them.

Dear Sir,

Unfortunately, the Z59 click-on tailcap assembly is not designed to work with the G2X Flashlight. We have found that operation with a Z59 installed is intermittent/unreliable.

Thank You

Anyone know if the body diameter is the same as the G2. I have a G2 mount I'd like to use on the G2X.

Thanks.

I have been carrying a G2X with a Z59 tailcap on duty for over a year now with no problems. I also have the same setup on my patrol rifle in a Larue offset mount, again no problems. The one I carry on my belt I use almost everyday as I work the nightshift, but the weapon mounted one is seldom used aside from qualifications, practice and infrequent patrol use.

You can check the surefire site. I believe they have that info.

I think it's close, but I believe the G2X is slightly smaller than the G2 so be prepared to wrap it in tape or something to fill that slight gap.

We have 20 G2X's on hard use BCM/ EAG Carbines.
We have had no issues with the lights and have been using them since they first came out

We have the Z59 tail cap on most of them and they work fine. We have some McClicky tail caps on a few. and they are GTG as well

We did however have problems with the Z48 switch (apparently they did as well, as it is discontinued)

Do they have a tape switch for these anywhere?

No.
The G2X has a longer threaded area that the tail cap screws on to. You could use one of the tape switches designed for the 6P or G2, but you will need some sort of spacer to bridge the gap from the back of the battery to the tail cap.
