I'm looking to get a relatively inexpensive light for my AR that uses AA batteries. Since my Eotech runs on AA, I want get a light that uses AAs. I found a couple including this one http://www.amazon.com/LED-Tactical-Flashlight-Throwing-7224bk/dp/B0027BQO2I

I'm not looking to spend a fortune and I've been looking for awhile now. I am ultimately looking for a AA light that is not to big, has a decent battery life, good brightness and is not terribly expensive.

The one that I linked to has a 1.5" diameter. I found another AA light that I like but it also has a 1.5" diameter.

Does anyone know of a good light mount for a 1.5" light?

Or do you know of a good light/mount that uses AA batteries with good specs?

Thanks again guys !

Find another light.

Look at the button. How are you supposed to activate that effectively on a weapon? Being able to properly use a weapon light is as important as having a weaponlight in the first place. While you don't need to spend a fortune to get a decent weapon-light (even though I tend to) stuff designed to be strapped onto a rifle is more expensive, and for good reason. $24 just won't get you there.

Also, I doubt that light was designed for the recoil generated by a firearm. Having tested electronics for weapon usage, even I was surprised by how much torture the forces generated by a 5.56 rifle can cause.

What's your budget, I'm sure we could help you find a light much better suited to be on a rifle

ETA: AA just doesn't create the output in a light that CR123As do, which is why they are not common in weapon or tactical lights. Opening yourself up to CR123As will get you a quality, but affordable weaponlight. My Surefires and DBAL lasers run off of CR123As and my T1 runs off of CR2032. My Vital-2 will run on AAs. My IR strobes run off of AAs and 9Vs.

Get the best equipment you can. Unless you're humping a ton of batteries on a week long recon mission in the mountains, I wouldn't worry about battery consolidation.

Yeah, I think your right. I've been looking around and I think its inevitable that I will need to a get a light that uses the standard lithium light batteries. I wouldn't be opposed to spending about 75-100 for a decent light and mount. As long as the battery life is good and its not too bulky.

thoughts?

How about the Fenix E21? It uses AA batteries and seems to be a pretty decent light. The only draw back is its kind of bulky (6.5" long). Also, I'm not sure who makes a mount for it.

Check around the EE in lights & lasers and lights & lasers-budget.

Lots of good deals. I have some very nice weapon lights and I've payed substantially less for them than I would elsewhere. New included.

Some places to start looking. TLR-1 or TLR-3. Surefire G2 in a Viking Tactics mount.
This would be an excellent choice (Inforce WML $100)

Not designed for weapon recoil, and it has a .800 diameter body. Common body sizes are .830, .995, 1.000, 1.020
The closest mount I can find is the Vltor "Scout" offset which adjusts from 0.803-0.910, but it runs $85. Makes a cheap weapon light a bit more expensive.
