Would you recomend this? I am so lost in the relm of lights and mounts. Would this set up work with hard use?

Not sure what you consider hard use, but many folks have used and liked the TLR1 on their AR.
I would say yes
I recently attended a 2-day carbine course and probably more than half of the attendees used a TLR-1 mounted on their rail. The instructor even ran one on his DD mounted and commented that it was the setup he recommended.
The TLR-1's were rock stars during the night shoot portion.
I have a picture of the instructor with his rifle slung over his shoulder and you can plainly see his light, I'll try to get it uploaded later.
The instructor was Kyle Defoor, who knows a thing or two
as promised, might look kind of funny because it has his logo on it

yes, i would. however, i run a surefire m961 (9v incan) on my main carbine- it's big/heavy but bulletproof. i don't know about the durability of the TLR-1, so i can't comment on that- but they seem to be very popular
they make remote pressure switches for rifle/carbine/shotgun mounting...streamlight sells a 'long gun package' TLR-1 that already comes with the pressure switch
they also sell a TLR-1 HP that is kind of like a surefire 'turbo head'...its a larger optic/bezel for longer distance use (such as on a long gun)
Can't go wrong with it it works great. I just got my TLR-1HP in today it's sitting on my desk and will be taking the regular TLR-1's place on my AR but the regular one works REALLY good too. :)
