New Build
I'm Interested in building an AR. I have to admit i know nothing about these, I'd like to build something that could be a good base to learn and expand upon. I'd like to have a budget of around 1k and would like to learn on traditional sights before purchasing any sort of optics. I'm also not afraid to build as much from scratch as possible. My guess this has been asked a thousand times, so sorry if that is the case. Any input would be appreciated.
psa kits seem to be the build it yourself budget item lately. for $1000 you can probably put together almost exactly everything you want. Look in to barrels first figure out what barrel will suit your needs then look in to free float rails, stocks and grips.find a good quality bcg. upper and lower receivers are sort of choose your roll mark, triggers you may want to spend a little extra on.
read the sticky in this forum and check out the videos on brownells it's really pretty easy to build you'll also need an upper action block, bench vice, armorers wrench, torque wrench and punches
look into Palmetto State Armory, M&A Parts, Del-Ton, and Model 1 Sales. imho del-Ton makes good kits for very affordable prices, but you may wait a bit for them to get back in stock. for a 1st build I'd try and keep it as basic as posable cause your opinions on what are must have will change EXPONENTIALLY over time. build it, run it hot, see what you like and don't about it, and build a new upper accordingly, AR/M4gerys are really like Barbies for Men. you will want to have a new dress and sunhat stock and handguard on that weapon before long.
