 NYS legal 22 build recommendations?

First time poster

Already have an M&P 5.56, but want to build a dedicated 22lr that is NY legal so I can plink at camp during the summer. Also so the kids can have something to shoot. I have the lower worked out already with a fixed RRA entry stock. Trying to decide on an upper. I would rather build but dont want to end up blowing out my checkbook on any mistakes. Reliability and accuracy are more important than saving $50 though. I like the DPMS and Nordic components uppers but a little concerned with serviceability, being single sourced.

Since its NY legal requirement means a no threaded barrel or pinned compensator (not a FH) I'm preferring a bull barrel (like the look better). A Beyer barrel in a std upper with a conversion kit w/o the chamber adapter is what I'm currently considering. I'd put a rifle length free float rail and flip up sights on it.

What are my other options? I've just started research and this site has helped a lot with names of suppliers I've never heard of. My google-fu is strong, but want to draw on others direct experience.

Thx, I'm familiar with the requirements of NY I'm looking here for the intersection of expertise in builds and components that will work for NY. Basically Im looking for parts recommendations for 22lr uppers that fit into that: non threaded barrel, no bayo lug.

Ahh... Okay.... So, you want in State information on what you can do?

This is a multi National forum. You'd be best served by the HTF for NY

Well no, NYS legal requirements for an AR dictate that I have a fixed stock (done), 10 rd mags (or preban, done), no bayo (no brainer), and no flash hider nor the capability to install one (so either a non threaded barrel or one with a compensator permanently attached).

Personally, I like the look of a bull barrel in a rifle length tube for a 22, and I don't particularly care for a perm attached muzzle device.

So, aside from the aforementioned complete uppers that come with bull barrels, what other possibilities are out there for a component build? What 22 non threaded barrel, what 22 BCG, etc would be recommended by anyone who has done this?
