i am trying to mak a smart purchase decision and i am a newbie to the long guns. and want to get some feedback on what brands of ar 15 556 nato to avoid and why.
thanks for any input.
It would probably be easier to read the build topics and see what people ARE using. Everyone freely lists the parts they used and where they bought them. If you read a few topics you'll start seeing a trend in brand names and vendors.
Vulcan/Hesse/Blackthorne.
All the same company, just different names.
Just no.
I'm not looking to buy these days, but most brands out there are pretty good.
Bushmaster, Armalite, Colt, Spikes, Noveske, Larue, DPMS, Palmetto State Armory, Stag, Daniel Defense, BCM, LMT, CMMG, Rguns, and Del-Ton are all good, as far as I'm concerned.
Some of these are seen as better than others.
Figure out what is important to you and find a price that works.
Spikes and Palmetto State Armory are currently the best bang for the buck, as far as I'm concerned.

+1 ^
Alot of folks are either building as its a bit cheaper and they can customize, same like a car with different options, sports package, etc. or complete rifles also with different packages right out of the box, with scope, tactical, long range, etc. a little reading and research on the build forum and u'll find what everyones building and what parts to use and not to use. Also the AR discussion forum is good as well on brands, vendors etc.
