SOTA arms
anybody ever used any items from this place? Good Bad or????? looking at a 300 aac upper. Thanks for the input.
well i let you know here soon. I ordered up all my parts from them to do a build on one of my Barrett marked upper receivers. I'm doing there 16" stainless 1/8 barrel, w/ stainless muzzle break, BCG (nickle-boron), gas tube, lowpro gas block, charge handle, and even there rifle length f/f quad rail.
they are almost local to me. i have seen them at my local gun shows for the prices you can't beat them there BCGs are not staked properly so that was off my list. but I think there uppers are really nice for the price they are asking. I have only bought small parts from them at gun shows
can you explain how they did not properly stake the BCG's? i ordered two BCG from them and one is a nickle-boron bcg.
they just torque them to commerical standards and don't stake like other I have handled them in person just not my cream of the crop. I read some thing somewhere that the nickel boron BCGs need to be staked due to the coating on the BCGs
I got one of their 5.56 uppers with the free float tube handguard. My BCG is staked, just not as well as others I have seen. So far the quality seems pretty good. Just like any other milspec upper and barrel.
If you call them on the phone you can order an upper without their BCG and CH. They will knock $80 off the upper price.
I just received mine today. Ordered 3 weeks ago. Seems like a reasonable time to me, considering parts shortages. No email to tell me it had shipped, but that probably would have made me even more antsy!
BCG is well staked. This thing is tight, no slop. I'll lube it and take it to the range tomorrow to sight it in.
I picked up some PMags from 44Mag.com and now I've got a great, basic AR for my son.
I won't hesitate to consider SOTA Arms next time!
I ordered a 6.8 BCG from them and it was staked. It might not have been as aggressive as some of the others I have seen but its not going anywhere. Still in mid build with the gun, so I cant say how it functions, but I did not see any reason for it not to.
