Hello,

I fall into dummy catagories in rifle. I own several handgun. Just building my first AR after extensive research. I have follwoing questions;

1.]Please let me know if I have made good choices on the parts[/b]: ( Mega stripped lower, Rock River lower part kit, VLTOR MUR 1S upper, BCM Chargin handle, Young's SLC complete bolt carrier group, Magpul CTR assembly kit for stock, Troy 13" free float rail with sight, Daniel Defense 16" barrel, VLTOR gas block and PWS TTO muzzle break and bullet button (LIVE in California with all stupid gun law)

2. Need help to choose a mid level optics. I am a casual weekend shooter. Also planninng to join 3 gun competition. What is a good mid level scope or red dot. I am not interested to buy eotech and other expensive optics to show off.

I will appreciate if some one can advice.

Thanks,

shoot Irons first learn them other wise don't put on BUIS and slap a RDS on and train with that. I HIGHLY recommend training with irons first plus I find it to be more fun

In my view you just blew away ‘mid-level’, so what you actually want is cheap in the optics world.
Almost everyone makes entry level stuff, just stick to the brand names.

I think he's saying that Eotech prices are "mid level" in comparison to 'top tier' optic prices. Some top tier optics can cost well over $3,000.00

The best red dots in my opinion are Aimpoint. Either the Comp M4 or the Aimpoint Micro. There is always the less expensive Aimpoint PRO too. The Vortex StrikeFire is a very good red dot, but not quite on par with Aimpoint. The Vortex SPARC is a nice lower budget alternative to the Aimpoint Micro. If you're looking for even lower budget then I'd check out Primary Arms optics.
