Just finished my first build. I used a DD barrel, and PSA upper receiver and PSA Full auto BCG. Is there a need to check headspace before I fire it?
I had to torque the barrel to about 50 ft lbs to align the barrel nut for the gas tube. Thanks for the help

Barrel nut torque has no effect on headspace. Headspace is checked between a particular bolt and barrel combination.

Many people skip headspacing their builds, and usually they have no problems. However, it would seem to be a good idea to actually check the fit of the part that contains the explosions that will be occurring inches from your face.

Some people say checking headspace is not needed in an AR15. I always check mine before firing them. I have never seen one that was not in spec. I recommend taking rifle to your local gunsmith to check it out first. Only takes a few minutes and it is better to be safe.
