What are the cheapest, yet most reliable lowers to get now?
Interested in finally getting an AR again.
Last time I checked, PSA had stripped lowers for real cheap, but heard bad things about their customer service.
Anyone got any good info? Stripped lowers or with guts, it's all good. Please inform!
Surplus ammo & arms
Stripped lower $89.99

In what way are those better than the $79.99 Palmetto State lowers?

Didn't say they were better or worse, just trying to help my man out by suggesting a decent lower for a decent price, that wasn't PSA, since he wanted alternatives to PSA.
I have a SAA lower and I am perfectly happy with it, of course I got it when it was on sale for $59.

IMHO a lower is a lower is a lower.

Oh, damn. Thanks guys!
Surplus Ammo is were I bought my Aero there in Lakewood and the guy at the counter told me they had some Aero's that had factory defects that they were selling for cheap.
It's not the lower, It's what goes in it that counts..

My apologies. I jumped in before reading the whole OP.

Generally I agree. That said, I have a lower that I had to literally grind down the edge of a trigger assembly to get it to fit. I won't mention the manufacturer here so as not to place blame, maybe it was a one-time quality issue, I dunno. I didn't bother complaining at the time, as it was a $50 lower in 2009 or 2010, which was (and would be still) and awesome price. And with the modifications, it works fine with my Spike's .22LR upper.
All the other lowers I've bought never had an issue: Essential Arms, Spikes, Bushmaster - all good.
The moral of the story is... I'd get some feedback from other folks before buying a $60 lower... not saying this is a bad one, I'm just twice shy at this point.
the surplus lowers disappear from the sight just as fast that they appear. i don't think they would go so fast if they were crappy.
I just bought a complete polyer lower for 99 from new frontier. Works well and the trigger is pretty nice.

I wouldnt hesitate to buy another
Give PSA a shot. Their customer service got a bad reputation because of the Christmas lower sale this past year. They did us a favor and sold them for $49...got real busy...and impatient whiners (for the most part) started to complain that their orders werent showing up right away. They did have a few issues with missing parts in orders but from what I saw took care of those people ASAP. I ordered 2 lowers and then bought some more parts in one of their stores when I went TDY to Ft. Jackson. They're good people and try real hard. I'm of the opinion they just got overwhelmed during the sale and bit off a bit more than they could chew. FWIW...both lowers turned out perfect, went together well, and were good enough to the point I F1'ed mine as an SBR.
CMS

I have had DPMS, Bushmaster, Olympic, Doublestar, LMT, Lauer, Superior Arms, American Spirit Arms, Rock River Arms, Colt and I am sure a few more lowers.
When comparing price for the value and product Essential Arms is the cheap stripped lower I tell friends to buy. The machining is excellent with all the seams flat and a smooth finish. All the holes have lined up perfectly and everything is snug.
I have had other brand lowers that when a trigger guard roll pin was installed it took a tiny tap to get them in because the hole was oversized. I even tried a few different pins. I have never had that problem with any of the 6 Essential Arms lowers I have bought. You will pay $90-100 for the Essential but there are no unsightly roll marks and selector markings are crisp and small.

I bought two of those when they came in stock. They were available for all of 10 minutes, better be quick.

Was SAA the problem lower? I haven't built mine yet so I can't speak one way or the other, but they are made by Aero Precision same company that makes Spikes.
The only "complaint" (and I'm not complaining, just reporting) is that one of the two times I bought the 50.00 PSA lowers they were a bit slow shipping. On the other occasion, when I bought it, they published an "in stock" date but was surprised when mine arrived at my FFL 4 days BEFORE the "in stock" date. Bought a pistol and no complaints whatsoever. They've done right by me always and I don't place big orders.

Ditto. Little slow on the shipping for my upper, but way ahead on the two lowers I ordered. Right on time for the LPK I got from them.
If I had the money, I would have bought a pistol build kit from them already.
LRB Arms sold by Wideners $69 and change 24/7/365
Top of the line.
