Hello all,

I have to say that my eyes are bleeding at all of the reading I have done...... This place is great for advice, knowledge, BS, experts. Yada, Yada, Yada...

So now that I'm taking the plunge, I've decided to go with JD Machine in San Diego (Local) for my lower and (most liiley) upper. As far as the barrel i'm torn between a Noveske or Daniel Defense. I want this gun to be a tac driver (as so we all with our weapons) but I dont want to break the bank doing it. I'm looking to sepnd between $250 to $450 on a barrel. So I asking for suggestions for barrels.. I am not going to shoot compatition but I want to be able to not look like a stooge at 300yds when I'm at the range. Do I need a chrome lined barrel? What are the benifits? I am thinking that I really dont need a Stainless barrel... I do have to read some more on the gas system. I have yet to wrap my head around it fully. As far as trigger I'm going to get either a Timney Triggers or American Trigger. The BCG is where I'm at a loss, cause there are so many to choose from. I'm not going to go cheap. I will prolly spend around $250 on the BCG. Any suggestions?

It will be tactal looking weapon but I have not gotten that far yet as to how it will look or which manfucationer I will use. I do know that the sights will be aftermarket and they will be backups to whatever I decide to use for optics...

Thanks for taking the time to read.

What is wrong with a BCM BCG for $150?

Nothing... Like I said, I just don't know enough about them to have an educated opinion.. I set my price limit at $250 If I come in under that then its even better...

OK If you want it to be a tack driver. Rainier Match and Ultra Match barrel might do you well as well.

your reciever choice are fine now for a barrel SS is gonna help but so is ammo, bipods, scope, and the shooter theres a lot to look at someone mentioned rainer match barrels they are really good for the price I picked up one a while ago for a build I didn't make. as far as triggers no need to spend 250+ on a trigger when you can get a gieselle SSA ( I think I spelled it right) for 180 or a single stage ALG ACT for 60. gas system depends on barrel length if for a a 16 in a mid or carbine would work but if your wanting to reach out farther then get a 18 or 20 and a rifle length gas. as for BCGs BCM , PSA, LMT, COLT, Spikes, DD, RRA, Delton,etc.... are for 110 to 150 no need for a fancy chrome or NiB BCG only advantage is easier to clean. Troy buis or magpul are great for the price nuff said about that. scope if you reaching out to 300yds plus I recomend a 3-9x optic of course paired with either a Larue or ADM mount. otherwise all the rest is for show (yes even the buffer, trigger springs, anti rotation pins yadayadayada)

PS if you have a properly gassed rifle no need to buy extra stuff......

+1

i just shot my new 14.5 match barrel from them and it's very accurate. the 1/8 twist will work with just about any thing you'd wanna shoot weight wise as well. i believe they come with sub moa guarantees. ran me about 250 bones.

I just got a BCM BCG and the bolt is a little loose for my taste for a tack driver rifle.
That is it failed the SAAMI NoGo gage.
The bolt carrier seems ok.
Where ever you get your barrel maybe they can provide a bolt headspaced tight to the barrel.

JD also has a BCG. Its supposed to be machine gun grade, which I would believe as they supply equipment to Seals and Border Patrol.

I picked up my JD lower from North County Firearms, then did PSA lbk, with diy trigger polish. Then picked up a fully assembled upper from JD at the last gun show. Itsnot a lined barrel, but with upper, bcg, barrel, and their 14" foreguard, I paid $770 cash, which I thought was reasonable. Guy before me grabbed another upper with Centurian Chrome line barrel and hand guard for about $1100
