Question about CLP
Where is a good Place to buy some? I'm lOoking to pick up a good amount. Also is there any cleaner/lube that is better than CLP? Thanks guys.
Brownells has gallon jugs of BF CLP.
Walmart has 4oz bottles.
I usually go to walmart and buy the sprayable breakfree clp.
ETA: there's plenty of cleaners and lube that do different things better. If you want the best I would recommend getting something made specifically for cleaning only and using a different product for lubrication if you want the best possible results. CLP is decent at cleaning, lubricating, and protecting but by no means is it the best in any of those 3 categories.
The 8 ounce bottles at around $7.99 will last you a year or more and thats if you clean and lube your AR15 every single weeked.
I bought a dozen cans of CLP about 6 years ago, does it have a shelf life to it?

I took some that was date rotated out of the armory in 1993. I still gots half (pint?)of it left and it works and cleans fine. Call me sentimental, but Its run in all my weapons since 1980. I may try other stuff, but I will always have CLP on hand.
A bit of an oratory here, but Ive cleaned and lubed and ran M60/D's, 1911, A2's, M3A1 sub guns, and M2's. Plus other tank mounted stuff like m240, m179. Never mind mortars and TOW guns. CLP got used on all them fuckers and ran in all the weather I ran in with no problems. Yakima Desert in May to Fort Drum in February.
There is a reason the shit is still around, it just works. We never used the issue bore cleaner either, just the CLP.
I have said my 2 cents worth, thank you very much.

I have gone to non-toxic, no smell cleaners and will never go back.
Hoppes Elite gun cleaner works great, and I hear SLIP 2000 works even better. Follow with the oil of your choice.
CLP does not C, L, or P that great and makes everything stink.

incorrect on the L and P. far as C it does not touch copper, but will clean your rifle "good enough".

I have been able to buy it by 12 pints at a time at gunshows and mil-surp stores.
I don't think it goes bad over time, but some of the older stuff you have to shake to mix it before you use it.

the solvent may evaporate away, but that may take years. reminder plastic is porous.
