Repainting gun barrel
I had a little trouble getting the barrel nut off of my when when i was switching to a free float system, and needed to use heat and a vise. I scratched the barrel up a lil bit and also need to paint where my new low profile gas block doesnt cover over as much space as the old one. So i picked up some krylon grill/oven paint. This is what people at the store told me would work. Is this ok or should i go buy something different? Any suggestions. Thanks for all your input
I used Rustoleum High Temp Grill Paint on my shaved FSB.
It matched perfectly, and has held up so far.
I tend to stay away fron Krylon now due to the new formula. If you have to respray it it will orange peel. The new formula does not alow for touch ups. I used it on my exhaust in my pick up and didn't care about the orange peel as much as I would if I was spraying a barrel.
I've had good experiences with Duplicolor's high temp exhaust paint. The one that contains ceramic and can handle up to 1100 degree instead of just 450 like engine and grill paints.
Aluminahyde II from Brownells also has worked very well for me.
Both are blacker then the parkerizing though.
