Carbon cleaning rod
I picked up a rather high end upper and it has prompted me to finally upgrade my bench cleaning rod, was going to get a Dewey but saw some carbon fiber rods out there, any opinions on carbon? I did a search first and found nothing..................thanks!
Get the Dewey. The carbon fiber tends to separate from the brass pieces.
A lot of the top shooters are using carbon fiber.
The advantage is, either it's perfectly straight, or it's broken.
I've had good luck w/ my tipton rod. Going to buy a longer one for my new 20" build.

I like the fact that carbon will retain it's straightness, like the arrows. Might try a Tipton, reviews are good in Cabella's.

Go with the Tipton, I have used them all, including Dewey, and the Tipton is the best...I have a collection of cleaning rods like my wife has a collection of shoes, and I go to the Tipton each time, without a doubt.

IMHO, cleaning the bore of a .223/5.56 is a real pain, no matter what brand of rod you use.
Tiny patches do not make good contact with the bore, 2"x2" patches are tough to push through. Brushes? same.
I bought a Dewey .17 cal coated rod thinking the smaller diameter rod would allow more room in the bore for the patches. It did but the small rod is very bendy.
Then it dawned on me. PULL instead of push. I put the rod down the bore, put a brush or patch on and pull it thought. Much easier and cleans better.
Downside is it is time consuming. Especially using a brush.
I like the Dewey because the handle lets the rod spin to follow the rifling.
Dewey is my choice.

The Tipton will allow the rod to spin too.
Are you guys using the 22-26 cal Tiptons?

I had a .17 Tipton and the .22-26 Tipton. Both of them broke. the .22-26 snapped at the handle end, on the .17 the brass piece on the jag end came off of the carbon fiber. I use Dewey now, no issues with them.
