How is a round actually "Copper washed" ?
Specifically, ... How do the ammo manufacturers take a loaded ( I guess.. ) round and apply the "Copper Wash" ? Or do they do the case and bullet separately ?
No real important reason.. just curious.
The case and bullet are covered seperately.
As was mentioned above, the case and projectile are done seperately, during the manufacturing process. A copper "wash" is simply a thinner than normal layer of electroplating. Copper "washed" and Copper "clad" steel is both used in cartridge manufacturing. The two are different processes that provide the same basic end result. You will also hear the term "bi-metal", which is just another term for copper clad...
Thank You !
