Norinco Steel Core
Ive got a few boxes of Norinco Steel Core, Head Stamp 92', What are these good for? Should I save them? Shoot them? Pictures below

You could do either. Eventhough they haven't been imported in years, there are still tons of them around at this point. You might be able to get .50c per round from a dummy, (or ask a dollar per round if you don't mind raping REAL dummies) but there is so much of it still out there, buyers can find fair prices with patience. If you wanted to save them, that would be fine too.. eventually the supply that is here will get more burned out, and those will increase in value as collectables (probably not really soon though). Just like any Chinese gun import, whats here is all we got.. so it will likely always appreciate.
I will say that it's kind of unusual to see them place what looks like a sticker on the box saying steel core bullet. I haven't seen that one before. Maybe the box will make it more valuable, IDK. Maybe someone else will know how uncommon or common the steel core bullet sticker on the box is.
I would take one box of each for a fair deal to put into my little x39 ammo collection if you wanted to sell them. I have yellow and grey box already, but not with the same wording.

The stickers came in late - some were labeled as lead core but were steel core. At the time there was chatter about blocking import of steel core, so those crafty buggers labeled as lead. Steel was no problem to import in rifle calibers (until B-west advertised the 7.62x39 AK pistol, at which point the steel core was treated as some pseudo-AP stuff.) Turns out that all chinese imports were blocked because of their human rights violations (walmart?!?)
I have about a case of that stuff, seen it as high as $1/rd

but it's Norinco ammo so it's not exactly worth top dollar. Limited appeal to collectors, 40-60c/rd probably about right give or take.
Interesting. What differance would it do damge wise to a steel plate vs reguar wolf ammo?
Not much more difference if any. They have a soft steel core, not hard, and are not really AP.

You've never actually fired both lead core and steel core into a hard target, have you?
The steel core penetrates hard substances (like steel and concrete) much better (no surprise there, steel is harderthan lead).
The bullet is not AP (except in the legal sense) but if penetration of hard targets is the goal, steel core is the ammunition of choice.
I have some soft point Norinco ammo in green boxes. Worth anything?
They used steel for the core, surrounded with lead because steel is cheaper and more readily available. It is not AP ammo. It might penetrate a little better than regular lead core, don't know, but it won't penetrate near as well in mild steel as my 25.06 soft points. I had a lot of that Norinco steel core but have shot most of it up. It is accurate and reliable and plenty hot. I wish I had a bunch more of it.
