I am new to AK's so please forgive my lack of knowledge. I am in the process of buying an SGL 21, 30 rounders, and ammo.
Which would be the best defensive ball round? I am looking at stocking up while prices are down in the winter.
Thoughts?

HP and Soft-point for defense. But, 7.62x39 travels above 2000 fps and will penetrate walls easily.
That is what I was thinking, I have some 124's and 122's I was just trying to see if there was ballistic differences I wasn't finding myself. But so long as there is no real difference, I will just keep buying both. Thanks man.
Any FMJ bullet with the empty nose will yaw more quickly and will produce better terminal ballistics than standard FMJ bullets. Golden Tiger has that bullet. Other brands may use it as well.

Not necessarily.
OP: Please refer to the Ammo FAQ. There's an entry for "wounding effects of combloc ammo" or something like that. If you want the best load for SHTF, buy Hornady SSTs.

If you're trying to say that the FMJ with the empty nose does not yaw more quickly than standard FMJ bullets, you are wrong.

If you are trying to say that GT does not use the empty nose FMJ, that may be correct, but someone recently posted a picture (which I believe was from the maker's website) showing the sectioned bullets.
