So I have these nice Izzy bakelite mags.
Two of the three have the same floorplate. But one has a flat floorplate.

Is that a matter of where it was made? Was it a time frame issue?

Help me and others out here if you can.
Thanks for your input!

The flat floor plate belongs on an older slabside steel AK47 mag. It was either swapped out during its service life for whatever reason, or possibly put on at the factory because it just happened to be there.

edit... ehhh actually now that I pulled out my slabside mag the floor plate has slight differences. The hole on mine is square, and doesn't have that little dimple on the edge of it.

I got some like them recently as well.

They are "2nd Model" hump backs (out of 4 variations....1st= long top, 2nd= hump back, 3rd/4th= flat back). I'm not sure which base plate style is factory correct.

Might as well also add that you have (3) different base plates in the pic below. The far right one has a square opening without the "wings" cutout.

ETA: After a little reading.....those three base plates represent the three different styles used on bakelite mags. There seems to be no "rhyme or reason" on floorplates...just about every variation exists.

Check your followers as well....bet you have a few different ones.
