Triangle stock info
ive always wanted a triangle stock. i shot my buddy's rifle which has one and i really like it. ive had the wire folder, and now a regular poly stock and im just not liking it. that being said, a quick browsing of the EE warrants some questions.
difference between manufacture? i see russian and bulgarian, not sure if there are others.
4.5mm vs 5mm pins?
ribbed end plate?
i have a fixed stock receiver, so i know i need a new one with the cutouts for the closing mechanism. not a deal breaker, my rifle needs refinishing anyways and i wanted to add a side plate mount so i would have to get it rebuilt anyways.
side question, ive also been thinking of getting a vltor extension and putting a CTR with cheek riser on. anyone tried this? ive seen seldom pictures of this setup online and to me i think i would like it, seeing as how i think the poly stock cheek weld is too low for my liking.

Vltor option is ok, but not as authentic as the folder. Check out saiga-12.com for tons of pics of guys who have done the VLTOR option.
I have or have turned every AK I have into a 100 series folder, poly or triangle.
There is no equal to the AK100 series folders. Every Kalashnikov I own has an AK100 folder on it, except one S12 that I built for 3G.
I prefer the 5.5mm. And yes, I have 4.5mm as well. 5.5mm has a different angle that is in line with the bore which lessens the precieved recoil.
How to tell between 100 series folders and not?

100 series are the solid polymer side folding stocks.
after reading the link above, am i misunderstanding something? i need the stock, a new receiver, and then its just as simple as getting it rebuilt, right? or is installing the stock more complicated?
and everything that was just mentioned in this thread has been talking about the poly stocks? im just interested in the triangle stock.

I would just have your current trunnion removed and have the receiver cut for the folding stock. Poly or triangle stock doesn't matter, they'll both interchange with the same trunnion provided that the stock and trunnion match. Meaning that you can use a 5.5mm poly and triangle stock with a 5.5mm trunnion, and a 4.5mm poly and triangle stock with a 4.5mm trunnion.
go 5.5 unless you get a 4.5 for dirt cheap! second unless you want to do it right save the money and go with a beryl folder and third if you like the look of the poly folders get one, they are current issue and far better over all... that said my favorite is still a 5.5mm triangle!! I want one so bad, but Im a cheap ass... one day!
so the difference between the 4.5mm and the 5.5mm triangle stocks is the angle of the stock in relation to the receiver, yes?
is there a big difference in russian vs bulgarian manufacture?
is there any difference in the reciever for the 5.5mm? any smithing that needs to be done? or is it just the trunnion?
im going to call my local shop that does AKs and see if they are able to cut my receiver, if not, will a NDS-1KP fit the 5.5mm?

The receiver needs to be cut for the 5.5mm trunnion in order for it to match the angle of the trunnion. The NDS-1KP is cut for a 4.5mm trunnion. A 5.5mm trunnion will still fit, but it will have some of the trunnion exposed past the receiver since it isn't cut for it.
