 InRange AK74 Failure to eject

So i've got ~1000 rounds through my ak74 now, and the last time out at the range it started intermittently failing to fully eject the round every 5-10 shots. I've inspected the extractor in the receiver and it doesn't look bent, the shells are getting most of the way out of the chamber, but then the forward motion of the bolt is catching the case halfway out and the case is wedging between the bolt and the chamber edge/face so that the rifle can't fully return to battery. I got a video of it in 1/4th speed to show what happens.

Linky to video

Any ideas on what could cause this?

The extractor is mounted on the bolt.
The ejector is part of the lower left rail.
Is the tip of the ejector mushrooming?
Have you checked the extractor for dirt, damage, spring pressure?

Thanks for the responses... i've tried brand new 45 round mags and about 5 different surplus mags, they all exhibit the same problem, though maybe the 30 rounders less than the 45.

Thanks for the clarification on part terminology - the tip of the ejector isn't mushroomed, it looks clean and undamaged... the extractor are has been thoroughly cleaned, and I can't see any damage on it. The spring seems extremely stiff. I'll try to get some video of the parts up close w/ macro turned on...

Did the problem start when you started using a different type of ammunition or a different lot of ammunition?
If so, the ammunition may be marginal.

Can you post the video somewhere so that it can be viewed?

Who made the rifle?

From what I can see on the video (tripod would have been better, for more constant filming position), it looks like the bolt carrier is not returning far enough to strike the cartridge against the ejector hard enough, or that the ejector has been filed too short, or possible spot welded too far back to properly eject the spent casing.
You might want to try stripping down the bolt, and get another extractor spring to try in it, just in case (the extractor should move with not much force when pushed against with the tip of a cartridge or push pin).

As an afterthought, have you ever cleaned the gas block and gas port If you're shooting a lot of corrosive ammo, while your barrel might be chromed, the gas block is not, and carbon/corrosion may have fouled the port.

Send it back to Sellars––-he has a good reputation and will stand behind his custom builds.
