found a cheap slr106fr but its a CA gun
Found one of these cheap locally, looking the gun over it has a folding stock minus the button to release it, and the hook in the front of the receiver to retain the stock when folded. Also there is a cover over the threads but it does not appear to be welding into place.
My questions are these:
1) can if be converted back to evil specs?
2) as far all the stock goes, can I get use the small parts without paying KVAR $250 for the complete assembly?
Thanks
James
The SLR-106 was never legal in CA it is banned by name. Sounds like you might be looking at a converted Saiga? I have never seen a SLR series with out the latch.
Sounds like the "ban", version. Made to specs of the 94 ban for states that kept their citizens safe with those rules

No, that is far from a California piece. It sounds like you got a rifle configured for a state who copied the Federal AWB. I assume the stock you are talking about is the RPB/Gun Mall USA stock. Was it plastic? If so, that is the one. I think they might have made aluminum fixed krink stocks during the AWB. These stocks use just a standard fixed stock trunnion and can accept any fixed stock or a internal folding block. I am attaching a picture of it below my post.
To convert something like that back to original configuration will require a bit of work and some cash, and no that stock won't work. It is set up for a fixed trunnion and lacks the hinge and the cut out for the locking assembly. You'd have to remove the rear trunnion, buy a new trunnion and buttstock, install that, cut front of receiver for the latch, and install the latch assembly. Hard? Not really. Expensive, the trunnion assembly and AK100 stock are sold together on KVAR for $250. On GunBroker you can get the Krink stock for about $150-$250 and the trunnion for about $190.

UPDATE++++
ok guys thanks for the information, I did get the ban state wrong, its probably for one of the east coast states. My questions are this, it does indeed look like the "ban" model listed above in the link. Does anyone know how they mounted that cover over the threads? I would assume it has silver solder or high temp loc-tite to hold it on, as there appears to be no welds.
On the stock, the hinge is actually there, I drove it out tonight to see if the stock can be removed, but no luck, there is another smaller pin in the top of the trunnion, that might be keeping it in place.
I went ahead and ordered the evil stuff( US made versions) from Kvar this evening. So now on to the next set of questions.
1) how do you cut the latch for the front of the receiver? Anyone know of any instructions floating around the net?
2) same for the stock, how to remove the rivets ( looks like 4?) and put the new ones in? net instructions?
3) as for the muzzle I have something planned so long as I can salvage the threads under this cover.
I'll get pictures up shortly. I'm in the gun cheap and it was NIB.
The muzzle threads and the front sight base are all one piece that slides over the barrel. Look here for a photo and prices. You can knock out the pins underneath the FSB and swap it (Part 167SLR) with the correct, threaded model (Part 167B). You might have not even noticed, but I'd bet that ban model even has the bayonet lug's "Ears" milled off of both the FSB and the gas block too. The replacement FSB won't have that problem.

Kisara,
yes the lugs for the bayo are gone, but to be honest I could care less. I am hoping to pull the cover off the threads and make a stepped down thread adapter for a 5.56 can. If I can avoid any additional expenses at this point the better. I figured my first prototype adapter will be a rather $$$, and if I get it to work, the sky is the limit from there. I have access to a machine shop and a crazy redneck suppressor builder, the sky is the limit. Thank your for the links, worse case senario I can go that route.
Was in the same boat as OP with my first SLR106. Instead of spending the money and suppressing my desire for the evil bits I just took the loss on a trade and got a no-ban.
got it done by TnGalil, looks awesome and works awesome now, I'll try to get pictures here in a bit
