Every Chicom AK I've ever seen had a blued finish. Whether some of them may have had a higher polish applied prior to bluing I couldn't say.

I have three ban era Norincos and the two stamped ones, MAK-90 and NHM-90, are about the same with the almost black blued finish, but the milled MAK isn't quite as glossy.

Some of the blued finishes on the imported Chinese rifles were definately more polished than others from the same place that were imported.

This one has a much darker, glossy bluing on it.

Also the AK's on this add from back then seems to be glossier.

Got two Sile Norinco 56's––one has a highly polished, deep-blue, very beautiful finish that almost looks like blued colt revolver finish (almost).

The other has a dark blue nearly black, far less polished finish––not bad for an AK, but the other is actually a beautiful finish. Huge difference between the two.

I have seen them blue and black. I have a 56S-1 that is more blue.I love Chinese AK's and always stop and look at them when i see any at shows and stores. I have seen both Poly on Norinco in glossy black new in box. I am certain of that... However the blue are more common.

My AKS-762 SP... a satiny blue. The trunnion is a bit purplish-blue from the heat treat.

Wow, that's great for you, but it looks like somebody has removed that bluing on that unless the Chinese made a screw up and forgot to blue it.

Singtoe, it appears the blued finish on your Polytech Legend has been taken off - either intentionally or just with whatever uses an owner did with it. You can see remnants of it if you look closely. Especially around the sling swivel. It originally had some but is almost gone on the receiver now. But it definately didn't leave the factory like that.

Mine is a dark blue, almost black, and used to be very shiny.

But since it's alive, the bluing is my favorite part of the Chinese ak's. I hate the rough gritty park finish on the wasr-10's ec.

I have seen gloss blue, flat blue, some of my Maks have a two tone finish on the parts that were refinished after the marks were removed, flatter on the sides, but glossier on the bottom.

I think it what was in the tanks on the day they were built, new solution one color, a month later, not quite the same, and same goes for the sheet metal, some are almost rough, some are smooth, probably depends on how worn out the rolls at the mill were, when the sheets were produced.
