I recently bought a NHM91 at a local show for cheap...the seller was honest about the problem, but still doesn't excuse the stupidity of some people.
so now I am in need of a chinese barrel if anyone knows where I can get one..reasonable. MAK90 barrel preferably
my guess is the guy had some feeding issues with soft point ammo.

here's what NOT to do with a dremel...

Ouch damn, some people shouldn't be allowed use of anything sharper than a twinkie

What's wrong with that?

ETA: With craftsmanship like that you could just cut off the chamber and duct tape another onto it and sell it back to the original owner, I'm sure he wouldn't know the difference.

Fill it in with JB Weld.

wow, that thing should feed "no point" rounds w/ no problem.
and the twinkie thing was priceless.

So how much did you buy it for?

And this is why they should have to fill out a 4473 to purchase a dremel!!

$125...basically a parts kit. he showed me a case from a round he had fired out of it...with the BULGE near the rim, he's damn lucky. few more rounds and it may have bit him.

Damn. Some people are just plumb stupid.
I haven't seen a NHM91 barrel anywhere. Also I'm not very knowledgable about building or swapping parts around.
But I did notice that Polytech has new barrels for the AK-47/S Legend and AKS.
Any chance of going that route on a build?

Well.

Now I know where the term "Fucktard" originated.

From the next person he showed that barrel to.

Just a thought, is it possible to turn it down, and rechamber it?

yeh that's what I was thinking...save that barrel for a re-chamber project.7.62x25?

I have found a few barrels...but they are pricy. I may get a US made bulgarian profile and have the trunnion turned down to 19mm

here's the rifle after I removed the barrel ...

I thought if there was enough barrel left in front of the chamber, you may be able to shorten it, rechamber for x39, and drill a new cross pin slot after the whole process.

It might make the overall barrel length a bit short, but realistically, a new barrel may be cheaper in the long run.

Gunwolf

What's a MAK90 barrel worth? I'm fairly certain that I have a new or like new one in storage. I'll take a look if you haven't found one.

Thanks to billhw1...who hooked me up with a MAK90 barrel...My FUBAR MAK91 became a MAK90.5
Of course I had to headspace and drill for a larger pin...but all is well! MY 13 year old wants it now and he likes the thumbhole...so it will stay all chinese for now.

Nice work Gunwolf. I don't blame your son for liking that thumbhole... that's some nice looking wood. Hope it shoots well for him.

If I need any smithing done I'll hit you up. That was incredibly fast!
