 Buying a PSL

I'm in the market for a new PSL. It's my understanding that the best ones are the Romanian made versions. I've found a few on gun broker for around 800, and I've seen kits for around 250 to 300. Where's the best place to pick one up? Any suggestions on buying?

Building them is fun. Get a kit from Centerfire systems, but do yourself a favor and get a Nodak Spud receiver from Waffen Werks as the Romanian ones are a pain in the butt.

Right now I don't know of anybody who has Romanian one's for sale, they kinda dried up, I believe last year at this time, retailers were selling them for $6-700 and there seemed to be no end to them. That has changed as this type of market fluctuates on a regular basis. I checked gun broker a couple of days ago and saw two that were selling with that $800 price tag you already mentioned. While that may seem steep at the moment, if no more are imported, that price may be a bargain in a few years. You always roll the dice with some of this stuff. Whether Romanians are better than a US built one, I suppose that could be argued over and over again which I'm sure it will be.

I saw the centerfire kits and they looked pretty tempting. Atlantic had some TGI guns but I've heard some bad things from members here. I keep hoping some more will come in as I would like to see them in person, but so far no luck. I figure if I do a build I could fix a lot of the small problems they might have. Does anyone know why one of the centerfire kits is 250 and the other 300?

Yep, the $239.99 does not include trunnions, trigger guard or mag catch, all necessary for a complete build. The $299.99 include those items.

Awesome. I don't currently have the tools for an AK build, and since this is the only planned one, it might just be better if I had it built. Any suggestions as to who would be best and how much it generally costs?

Sorry, I roll my own. Unless some one can recommend a reputable builder, go over to theakforum.net, scroll down to "Want to sell- AK services", click on that, then to "Compiled list of AK gunsmiths". You will see some names that you may recognize. Good luck.

How difficult is building a PSL and what would I need? It might be worth it to rent tools if its not too bad.
