I think I am going to buy a wasr 10 in the coming days, but I'm just wondering what I should be paying for it. The main thing that convinced me to get it was the relatively low price, but when I went to my local gun center, It was $599.99. I was expecting like $400-$450. What would you consider a good price for the wasr 10 and where would I find one at such a price? Is it cheaper to buy online and go through the whole transfer process and stuff?

That's very steep for a WASR, IMO. I would get 1 from Henderson (they sell ban state compliance ones IIRC) or Atlantic as both are very reputable vendors on this board and just pay the transfer fees.

My friend just bought a new one last weekend at a local show for 469 while
giving him a chance to inspect it.

WASR's around here have risen in price pretty steadily. Local prices around me are about $519

I bought mine (haggled down) to $400 two years ago. Prices jump because everyone is afraid "Guvment's gunna take ma guns away!"

Classic Arms just changed their price for them. They went up from $419 to $439 last week. Some gun shops are hiking the price way up in hopes of snaring the uninformed, much like a lot of folks are doing at the gun shows. Classic Arms, Henderson Defense, and J&G (when they have them) are quite reasonable though. My last two WASR's were purchased sight-unseen from sources like these and were completely straight with no issues. Build quality as of late, has apparently improved significantly over rifles built just a few years back.

Put a WASR 10 on layaway at Cabelas. Used rack Century, non canted sight, 2 30 round mags, Bayonet, marked as used for $409. Seemed like a good enough price to me.
