 Romy G mag fit question

My father gave me a Romainian G Ak tonight while I was visiting him. I noticed an issue, the magazine does not fully insert at the rear tab. It will insert fully with an unlaoaded mag with some pressure, but not even close with a full magazine. So to simplify the problem, the front of the mag will insert into the magazine notch. The tab at the back of the magazine will not engage the mag release. It will almost engage in the rear, but not like it should on every other AK I've ever owned.

Help me ARFCOM you're my only hope!!

I had a Romy G that was the same. I filed down the latch about 1/8" so the mag would lock in but it still barely would clear the latch on the way in. Turns out the mag latch pin was drilled slightly off.

It's built on a NDS receiver, so I'm hoping that this is not the issue.

Mine had an issue with releasing the Magazine. It took quite a bit to get the magazine seated then took about 5 minutes and sore hands to get it out. So I filed down the top of the magazine catchand it was like butter after that. That might be the issuewith yours. Mine was made by Cugir with a 1989 serial number if that helps at all.

Do you only have one magazine, or have you tried this with multiple magazines? If just the one and you modify anything on the gun, then you're only guaranteed to work with that one mag.

Yep, then you definitely need to file down the top of your mag catch some. Just remember to take it slow and test fit very often. As anyone who has done this will tell you, it is easier to take it off than to put it back on.

You can fold sand paper into a strip and run it accross the top of the mag catch.
I find Sand Paper takes off less metal than files.

Go slow, sand a few times, check the mag, repeat till it fits perfectly.

My wife tells me the opposite

I like the sandpaper idea better than using a file. Off to get some sandpaper.....

ETA: I wasted post 3000 for a lame joke about taking stuff on and putting stuff on....
