SKS underfolder.....Crazy idea??? (pics are up)

I have a junk SKS wood stock, a Romanian or Polish underfolder assy with trunion and all other hardware and a SKS pistol grip that attaches to the wood stock.

I plan on putting the underfolder assy and pistol grip on the wood stock. Anyone ever seen it done?

I know I'll have to remove a good amount of wood, but using the trunion as an anchor I think the stock will still be strong at the underfolder attachment point. Am I crazy?

It can be done. You don't need the trunnion though. Install your pistol grip first. then locate the appropriate mounting point for the pivot for your under-folder. Now is the time where you can adjust your length of pull. For mounting, i would use spacers and large washers and screw it directly to the stock. Now for the locking side, you might have to inlet the stock a little bit and make a new thinner locking piece but that should not be hard.

I think that it is an interesting project...

I guess I can try it first without the trunion. I don't know how strong it will lock up though just in the wood. We'll see soon enough. I'll post pics when done.

I'm pretty sure the first place it is going to begin to crack is at the locking pins. I don't think anyone has ever done it because it honestly sounds like a bad idea, but its your project.

Starting with a junk stock to begin with I have nothing to lose.

Unless the stock let's go while you're shooting it.
Since you seem determined to press ahead, good luck.

Almost done. The stock is inletted and everything fit just fine..... I did use the trunion. There was really no way to do it without.

I'm using ACRAGLAS to fill the excess voids and strengthen the stock. It looks awesome and with a paratrooper fitted it's 26.5 inches. Pretty compact package. Pics will follow.

There are others that have successfully transformed their SKS to a underfold.....

The one I liked but I can not find, a guy from another country built (milled) his own stock out of a aluminum block and put a underfold trunnion on it......

It hasn't sold yet. I'm asking $110 shipped. I have more than that in the parts.
