What are yugo SKS' going for these days?
I've seen a few in the neighborhood of $250-$300. Does that seem about right?
I also saw a few really beat up rifles with $399 price tags on them. I'm guess that was just a dream though.
If you are speaking of a 59/66 in cosmetically unissued condition they can go from $300+, if you are speaking of a 59/66 in decent condition it would be more around $250-
Now if you are speaking of a 59 then that is a whole different ball game and would demand a little bit more of a premium.
Too much IMO.
They are starting to cost as much as a Russian, and I don't think they are worth that much.
Of course, YMMV.
$300, which is ridiculous, since an AK is $375.

Ridiculous it may be, but the market for them has been around that for a while now.
I agree that they are extremely overpriced. I wouldn't pay more than $175 for one.
I've seen them between $300-$400. Way too much IMO. Save your money and buy a Russian. I've had a Norinco, Yugo refurb, and a Russian. I still have the 1952 Tula refurbed Russian. Never a problem, well made, and always goes bang. I can't say that about the Yugo.
I saw a Cherry's Yugo 59/66 at a local gunshop a few months ago. $499. It was in very nice condition, but definitely not worth $500.

If you had a problem with you Yugo there had to of been a reason why it was not functioning properly. What was your symptoms

I bought it when I had my C&R license, it was still in cosmoline. It just misfired alot. Not an ammo problem because I put the "bad" ammo in the Russian and it all went bang. I went through it, couldn't find anything wrong. Also the receiver cover fit loosely, the wood was awful, just no where near ar nice as the Russian. I've seen other Yugo's that just "looked" crappy and were over priced. The ladder sight and the grenade launcher adapter looks tough. That's the only thing it's got going for it.
Everyone has their own preference. I would take a Norinco over the Yugo. I had a new one of those also back in the early 90's. Shot great every time.
Are Yugo SKS's still being sold New (not new but directly from importer) in box?
I saw some in a gun show and they looked to be freshly imported and with a +$300 price tag.
The way I understand things, there are no more "Large stashes" of sks's left at any of the importers. Most of them are purchased on the secondary market. I suppose that is one reason they are going for more.
They are a well built rifle with milled receivers. I had one Chi-com and still have two yugo's and just purchased a Russian (not here yet.) The chinese and Yugo's have never missed a beat for me.

You do realize as lesser sks models go up in price that naturally pushes the price up on the russian right?
Simple law of economics.
I just paid $295 for one from SOG plus 3% CC fee and shipping. I'm kicking myself in the ass ever since I (back in 04') bought 3 mint Yugo 59/66's for $400 and sold them all for $200/each. I should've kept at least one...

QFT
I was just told by a friend that a Yugo is available for $150. He will pick it up for me to look at tomorrow. What should I look for. Sorry, but these are new to me. Thanks.
I picked up a Russian at a gun show this weekend for $300, and it looks to be unfired or pretty near it. Im sure you can get a yugo cheaper than that.

Classic Arms currently has either Romanian or Yugoslavian SKS rifles for $289. Assuming you don't have a C&R license and will have to pay transfer fees, you're looking at about $330 to $350 to order one and take it home. Anything less than that is below market.

It has become very common to find a Yugo close to that amount. I went to a gunshow and I saw different vendors with unissued Yugo SK with the average price near $275. The used Russians cost that much. 8 some years ago, the same Yugo SKS were going for $100 at a gunshow. With the price of everything going up, imported crates of these fizzling, and some fearmongering that our current US government may intervene on firearms, has all contributed for these homely SKS skyrocketing almost 3X in price. I still get in trouble when I refer to the Yugo as that $100 SKS. I know it's value has gone up but it is odd that some are actually wanting one when a few years ago it tended to rate at the bottom of the barrel as far of which SKS was best. My guess is that they are more common to find then the others.

I know what you mean. Years ago, the MAK-90 was viewed the same way the WASR-10 is today, as a bottom-of-the- barrel AK that most people hated. Now, your lucky to find a nice one for less than $500.
I have two Cherry's imports., both bought in 2006.
The first was as new and was $150 - looks like it was arsenal overhauled to brand new status.
The second was $175 and is an unissued, 1989 manufacture with blond wood, inspector's initials in pencil above the trigger and a factory applied "59" sticker over one of the stock screws. The tritium sights still glow on this one...
