Yugo AK-47 M70B1
Hello every one, first post. I'm kinda new to the AK-47 style of rifle. What can you tell me about this
Yugo that J&G is selling now. I thought the M70B1 was hard to come by. Anything you can tell me about
it would be great.

Holy shit, somebody has B1s....They haven't been around for quite a while.
B1s are my favorite of all AK variants. Built like a brick shithouse. I have 2 and they have been flawless. Good stuff.
ETA: That's a good price, only $70 more than I paid more than 2 years ago.
It may be my eyes, but look close at the rivets.

It's your eyes

I admit the the far out pics make them look like screws, but the one good closeup removes all doubt

I would call J&G before ordering to make sure its a 1.6mm receiver with the RPK trunion. It could be good, or that could be an old stock photo. The newer M70AB2s (underfolers) are coming with standard 1mm receivers and non RPK trunions. This was the biggest selling point to me of the Yugos
The price is good though. I paid a bit more for a brand new one about a month ago
Snake, do you mind telling me where you got your new one from.

I got mine from a dealer on gun broker. Currently has none listed for sale right now. There is one M70B1 going for 550.00
There are quite a few Yugo M70B1 kits available right now though

I have a hard chrome B1 with near perfect wood I thought about selling or trading.

How hard is it to put an underfolding stock on the M70B1?

Unless you have one, then buy a M70AB2. The rear trunion has to be swapped & re-rivted and the receiver cut to allow the stock on.

I called and asked, they are 1.6mm with RPK trunnions.

Then I say its like any other AK from century. It could be GTG but it could have canted sights or gas block. Mine has a slightly canted FSB and my receiver cover had a small dent in it. Its still accurate and shoots great so i'll fix the FSB when I feel like it
My concern about this is if it is as nice as the M70 and M72 from 1 to 2 years ago. Is this now a Century build? Or outsourced like the Yugos used to be?
I did call Century customer service and the guy I talked to had no idea they even had these right now.
It's a Century build. My lower hand guard and top cover rattle around excessively.

So you picked one up from J&G? Any pics?
Curious as to the overall build quality of this latest batch.
Maybe pics tomorrow. The Zastava markings on the rear sight block were half scrubbed off and the trunnion was scrubbed. I think the rear sight block might have been installed too far forward, the top cover is short by about a quarter inch or better and as such it does snug into the RSB, leaving the top cover to flop around. The lower handguard is loose in all directions, but that's something that is probably easily fixed with wood putty. Otherwise it looks good, no sight cant, the rivets look perfect, the finish is actually very nice.

Quite hard/complicated. Unles you are talking about the fixed stock adaptor that changes it from fixed stock to underfolder (is about 2-3inches longer than standard Yugo underfolders).

Dude, I wouldn't even entertain the thought, the B1 variant is harder to come by than the underfolders.
I just received my B1 from J&G. The bayonet lug/gas block is canted. The wood and metal finish is excellent. Haven't stripped it down yet to confirm matching bolt carrier/bolt. It does have the RPK front trunnion and my gun has the Zastava markings on the rear gas block. No cleaning rod and came with one Yugo BHO magazine. If it shoots as good as it looks, I'll be happy.

I found out my pistol grip screw is bent, too. I called Century, the lady was very nice and told me to just send it back with an RMA number she gave me and they will send me a new rifle.

2 of the 3 Yugo kits I have bought have had bent PG screws. A lot of these parts have been to war and show it.

Yeah, I don't doubt it. But hey, she said they would send me a new rifle so who am I to bitch? Plus she put a note on the order to request one with the Zastava markings on the RSB intact and not half scrubbed off like mine was.
I bought one of these about a month ago mine was about as perfect as i century gun can be there were a few dings in the wood and some scratches but I'm very happy with it. It is currently going through a modernization process to make it a first rate fighting gun. I know some of you Ak purists are going to scream at me but I figure why not try to get a advantage were I can.

Let 'em scream. It's your rifle, do as you please regardless of what others might think.
Hot Damn!! I bought another one! I'm so thrilled with the B1 that I ordered from them in '08 that I've been looking for another!
Can't beat less than $500 to my FFL.
Next on my list is this...
http://www.jgsales.com/product_info.php/rifles/ak-47-and-rpk-rifles/p/yugoslavian-m76-sporter-rifle-with-scope%2C-in-8mm-/cPath/209_214/products_id/1542
M76 for $1K! I think that's very reasonable.

Likewise, I liked my first B1 so much that I bought a second. They were $399 back then, so J&G's price is pretty good by today's standards.
My Century M76 has been very good, but others have had FTE or FTF problems, so make sure you shoot it upon receipt.
Fuuuuuuuuuuuuck! I should've read this thread sooner. If I would've known B1s were out there, I wouldn't have wasted my extra spending money on a fugly Hungarian side folder last friday. God I hope these are still available in September when I'll be ready to buy another rifle.
