I just picked up a milled Yugo M70 UF. I would like to have it refinished but I dont know what route to go. What is the original EU Yugo factory finish?
Is it bake coated?
Is it blued?
Hot blued?
I was thinking of making it look "battle field pickup". Does that take rust blue? And im the most non-artistic person out there. How hard is it or do I hire it done (and who)?
Thanks!

I have used a green scotch-brite pad to "age" the finish on new parts, as when I did my milled Yugo M64 underfolder BFPU rifle. Worked great, it put just the right amount of "wear" into the finish of the parts. Old and new parts matched perfectly. My M64 is blued also.

What method did you use to rub it?
No abrasive or water, just a plain old scotch-brite pad and hand pressure.
Since my M64 is a reweld like your M70 (I'm a member of the AK Forum as well), I was only concerned with aging the new muzzle nut and trigger (compliance parts) and blending the receiver in the area where the welding took place after I re-blued it. I didn't touch any other part of the rifle other than refinishing the wood with BLO.
The trick is to make the scotch-brite induced finish wear look like real usage wear and not like your rifle lost a fight with a belt sander.
Can you send me a pic of yours so I can see where to wear it more and where less?
Thanks!
