history, reviews, and pictures
i dont know much about the galil or the falmet. any history, reviews, and pictures would be great... and how difficult and how much can i get one for?
Read the below links for history and info.
DO NOT buy a Century Galil, I'm speaking from personal experience.
The IMI Galil market is pretty good right now if you're looking. Check out Gunbroker. You're looking at around $2k. 223 mags are plentiful, and cost around $12-15 each.
Here's a Galil info site.
oh wow 2k is a lot, is it worth it?
$2,000 but, in the past resale value was even higher. High quality, limited availability, desired product virtually guarantees prices will exceed those of the past if the economy ever revives.
If one were to spend around $700 to buy a CAI and it was one of the ones that did not work, what then? Jeff could rebuild it, but now the price would probably be half to two/thirds the price of an IMI example.
PS. Parts kits and new receivers are available. Home building a galil is not really inexpensive or easy, but you can take pride in DIY.
I agree the CAI quality is spotty, but I've never been burned when buying face to face from dealer when I am able to:
1. Inspect it carey prior to purchase , and
2. Get agreement to return it if it won't run.
Most of the complaints are from century buyers who buy on line - and you get what you pay for
Buying an original Galil is great but 2k is a lot of cash and with a 2k weapon, if you plan to get that back out of it, your shooting options are a bit more limited.
