OK, so I took a Dremel to my DRACO

The thing kept hanging up and apparently it was in various places.

So, last night, I took the cover off cleared the gun. I then pulled the trigger and manually reset the hammer so it would hold on the disconnector.
I took the recoil spring out and then let the op rod fall back. Sure enough it's hanging up on the hammer. So out comes the carrier/oprod and hammer. I polished both up to a mirror finish. Then I noticed that it was getting hung up on the guide-ways. I lightly stoned those and only in the spots that it was hanging up on. I think the piston is dragging inside the gas tube as well but who knows. The gas piston does have just a very slight amount of play in it which, from what I understand, is normal.

Anyway, today I took her to the range. The first mag I loaded up kept hanging up every other round. I then switch mags and then it started running flawlessly. I had about 10 rounds left in the 1st mag and loaded her back up. She ran great for the last 10 rounds. I think I have mag issues but that is easily remedied.

We'll see how she runs after I get some more ammo in but it seems to be breaking in nicely but I'm not entirely certain if I've remedied everything.

One more thing. It is very obvious that the hammer pushes up entirely too much on the bolt and carrier. If you're holding the hammer at the dissconector and you take the recoil spring assy out should the carrier fall all the way to the rear freely or what?

With the rifle held verticle and the carrier held then let go; the carrier/bolt drop all the back to the trunion on my SAR-1 and 3 out of five times on my newer Draco C, with the other 2 time just barely stopping. Both have had the hammer polished.

I was shooting HP ammo so maybe that was an issue. I'm not sure though. Every once in a while the bolt/carrier would hang up. I'm not sure if it was dragging on the mag feed lips or the hammer. To further complicate things my gun ran like a top with the second mag. and then I switched back to the first mag and it ran like a top for the remaining 10 rounds.

I took it apart yesterday after I posted. It seems to have broken in a little bit more. I took the recoil assy. out of it and held the hammer at the disconnect. The carrier/bolt almost clears it now. Under it's own weight. It used to barely even get onto the hammer. Now it goes at least half way to 3/4 of the way past the hammer but does not fully clear.

Lastly, I used to be able to hand cycle the gun and could purposefully get the action to hang on the hammer. Now if I try to get it to hang it will but as soon as I stop putting the slightest amount of pressure on the charging handle the action goes home completely.

I'm going to lightly polish the hammer and underside of the carrier one more time and then re-test the gun and use FMJ since some AK's just do not like HP ammo.

Was this a Tapco G2 trigger group?

But yes, I had to do significant Dremeling to the bullet guide shelf to get it to feed. It was so sharp and at a perfect 90 degrees that it was cleanly bisecting bullet tips in half. Smoothed and rounded the whole thing. Now it feeds like a champ.

NO, it wasn't a tapco group. at least I don't think it was. I had one on my SAR-1 years ago and you could see on the trigger that it was a G2 grip. This one doesn't have any stamping on it anywhere. Also, the G-2 trigger that was on my SAR-1 rode wayyyy too high but I never had an issue with it.

I noticed that the bullet guide is just kissing the tips of my HP rounds. I may dremel that down a little bit as well and then I'm sure that I'll be in business.

I think that that is Band Camp.
