what do you carry?
what do you carry? why did you chose to carry?
A Taurus .357 Magnum. Full size, 3.5" barrel, in a home-brew Supertuck clone.
It is double action, stainless steel, and I prefer carrying a revolver. Pull trigger, it goes boom. If it doesn't go boom, pull trigger again.
Edit: Plus the pistol cost me $345 brand new. A carry pistol will get scratched and excessive holster wear.
Springfield Armory LW Champion Operator .45ACP.
Fullsize Springfield Armory 1911 in .45acp. Been packing this gun everyday for 15 years now. Its been through alot of changes along the way to get it to the point where it looks like it does today. I love it!!
Sometimes I pack two guns. When I do, a Kimber fullsize 1911 sits on the weak side hip to compliment my Springfield .
This one here
Usually Sig P229 in 40 cal, (duty weapon)
Otherwise G23
Occasionally my Kimber Elite Carry...
I have had a lot of different carry guns from a couple M&P's, couple Glocks, Sigs, small and large 1911's etc... and of all those only the 1911's and the Glocks stayed.
Although my heart belongs with the 1911, I find myself carrying a Glock 19 most of the time. I know a ton about 1911's especially my 1911, how to work on them, add things, shoot well, etc.. but I find the Glock is just that happy medium that I look for so often. The Glock 19 is light, has a great shape for ccw and still is able to hold 16 rounds of 9mm, it's a very simple gun that requires very little to shoot well and the aftermarket is unlimited for Glocks so parts are easy to get and cheap. 9mm is cheaper to shoot and easier to shoot and with today's hollow point ammo, I am not worried about carrying a 9mm over a .45 or anything else, but I do still like to carry the .45 just 'cause
Many of the above things can be said for M&P's and XD's and I have nothing against them, I just went the Glock route.

I agree with you completely on the Glock 9mm's being a great gun to carry daily. They're light, tough, easy to shoot, and weather the abuse of daily carry better than my Sigs or my Kimber.
9mm is an effective round that is statistically only 1 or 2 percentage points below or above 45 ACP in one shot stops depending on the round.
I personally have no problem trusting my life to 9mm.
However, my duty gun is a 40 Cal, so it made sense to go with the G23 as a back up/spare CCW gun since I already have 40 ammo in the house for the duty gun. If we carried 9mm, I doubt I'd own a 40 cal. Nothing against the 40 cal, but 9mm is significantly cheaper to purchase for training ammo....
I also agree with the two posts above,I carry a G23 alot. Occasionaly i'll wear a kahr pm9 in a crossbreed at 4 o'clock but the glocks are just so much more comfortable to use. I can shoot better, grip it better, operate it alot smoother and I have alot better shot placement. I carry a 2nd gen. glock 23 with a slip on grip, it also has night sights, been carrying it for 2 1/2 -3 years. I did just pick up a 3rd gen. 23, also has night sights. The difference is the new one has the finger grooves built in so it makes the gun skinnier and easier to carry. It also has the accessory rail if i ever need it. The only other thing different is it has a NY1 trigger spring which I will be using for the first time today, so it will not be carried until I determine how I like the trigger job or if I should go back to the factory 5.5 lb trigger spring.
G23 and G27, because the world's a scary place.
Glock 23 and Glock 27 too.
Swiss Army Knife and CRKT M16ZSF.
Coast light on key chain and M3 on Glock 23 or Gladious in a pouch.
Why ? To protect my family, myself and others.
I try to keep proficient with SA and DAO or DA/SA handguns so on top of shooting both on a regular basis, my carry guns change year to year. I practice with them all year long on top of larger full size handguns in similar configurations.

USP45 every day. I have been thinking of trading it for a G17 purely because ammo and mags would be interchangeable between my G19. I love the 45 though, its a tank of a gun and conceals nicely in a Supertuck.
I carry a USP 40 and a Glock 19 depending on my mood. I like my holster for the .40 better though. A Crossbreed Supertuck.
I mostly just wanted to comment though to say that I like your screen name. Just read that story. Besides the political stuff, it has gotten me interested in some firearms that didn't interest me as much before.
biggest gun i can reasonably fit on my person given the circumstances.
Sometimes that's a 1911
Sometimes is a PPK
Sometimes its a snub nose
Ruger LC9
SIG P228
SIG P229
SIG P239
Lots of times I carry my Gov't ;model .38Super, loaded with Silvertips..
Recently, I have been very happy with my new Colt New Agent.
If I couldn't carry some sort of JMB design,, I would go with SIG.
Mostly,
But, I have even been known to carry this when feeling serendipitous.

.36 or .44?
There was a period in my younger years when a 1861Colt Navy accompanied me when out and about.
G17
Glock 19 or full size Colt Gov't Model 1911, it just depends on my whim.
Right now my daily carry is a Colt 1991 Government Model in Milt Sparks leather.
I prefer a Colt Lightweight Commander but that will have to wait a bit. I've carried everything from Glocks to the H&K P7M8. The 1911 is my top pick.

The 9mm feels like there's nothing there.
When i have the coin to drop on a holster, I'll start carrying my SP01 tactical.

I carry when it is hot a Charter Arms 44special. With two reloads
In the cooler monthes I carry 1911 also with to spare mags.
Why do I carry, Because bad things happen to good people!
PITA45
P220.
Glock 22 95% of the time. If I need to carry more discreetly because of dress, situation or whatever, then a pf9. If I need to be super concealed, then p3at.
I carry the full size because it's what I train with, and because I'm a big guy with big hands. I carry everywhere but work, where it sits under the car seat.
Kinda depends on my mood.
99% of the time a Keltec PF9 lives in my pocket in addition to my normal carry.
I rotate between my Glock 19 and my 4inch 1911
G27 for best concealment, Other wise I rotate between the G22 or G23 if concealment is not an issue.
I always carry my LCP. On camping trips and when colder weather, my full size 1911 45acp or my 3.5" barreled version. If I go to bear country, my .44mag. I use standard roundball ammo except for hollowpoints in the 44 mag. Why carry? Well, its a pain in the neck at times but there are too many incidents between humans. I carry for protection from 4 legged critters too.
Alternate depending on my dress

Why??
Its a dog eat dog world!
XDm9 in a Crossbreed Supertuck, hardly know it's there. I carry everywhere except for work. I carry because it's a tough world.
Sig P229 in .40 S&W. Usually open carry, but occasionally concealed.
HK 45C in a TT Gunleather Phoenix Stronghold IWB holster.
Glock 19
winter springfield GI 5 inch .45
summer/tshirt kahr cw9
Glock 26 cool weather. Beretta .32 warm weather
Glock 17 with M442 as BUG.
Glock 34 or full size 1911.
Because the world is full of scumbags. I choose to protect my family and I instead of waiting for the cops to show up.
A g19 in a MTAC
or rarely a CW9 in a Don Hume IWB
I carry a G19. I have about 30 handguns and it boils down to the fact that imo its the most reliable, there are no safeties to deal with, and i shoot it well,
i carry it in a Raven Concealment holster IWB. I wish it was a tad smaller, but I tried a LCP and cant hit anything with it, even though it disappears in my pocket, so I stuck with the G19
Glock 21.
All day every day. Unless I am required to wear something stupid that doesn't allow the carry of a full size weapon. Not often. Then it's a G30.
Why? That's a silly question. Same as 'Why do you breathe or Why do you eat?'
Glock 26. I carry this because a LEO is too heavy.
Kimber Ultra Carry II
Ruger SR9c in a Blackhawk leather iwb holster for now, because it makes me feel cool

. I've got a Springfield Loaded Champion LW on order right now that will likely become my EDC, and i carry because there are crazy people in the world that we live in today.
I carry the kahr pm9 with a cheap IWB holster for now. Going to order a Crossbread Qwikclip soon. ( One of my favorite holsters) I also own a Beretta 96 inox and a 92 fs but a lil to heavy to carry everyday for me. Wife carries the g26 in the pocketbook or Blachhawk serpa. It works for her
Glock 19 with Winchester ranger T ammo. I shoot my 1911 more accurately but I carry the glock because higher round capacity, no safety to turn off and easier to conceal
Full size M&P 9mm + 2 reloads.
