Hello All!
Currently using Serpa holster for carry. Going to a tactical class next month and received an e-mail stating "absolutely no Serpas allowed at class". My question to all you helpful fellow gunners out there is what do ya like for conceal carry holsters? I'll be bringing my 21 to class!
Thanks a bunch

Get the non serpa blackhawk holster or a bladtech holster. I like the blackhakwk non serpa holsters myself over bladetech. You should be GTG

If you want a top-notch holster, get a Comp-Tac.

I'm in need of a holster for a 19. I've been looking at Mitch Rosen express line.

I swear by the ECP and Low Rider from www.rmholsters.com

Fantastically concealable kit that is comfortable to wear all day. Plus Jeff and Mary are two of the best folks around.

Comptac if you need it fast.

Throw the Serpa in the trash can. I don't know how anyone carries concealed with one, the thing sticks out like a brick.

Look into a pancake style kydex holster, like Raven Concealment, for carry use.

^This.

I have different holsters for different situations. If you like the Serpa then look at a Safariland ALS. I have one and it is a good holster with out all the flaws of the Serpa, but like the Serpa it will stick out and is somewhat hard to conceal unless you wear a very loose fitting shirt. I also have a Crossbreed Supertuck for IWB carry and a Galco Ankle Glove for ankle carry. I'm currently looking at purchasing a Raven Concealment Phantom holster. There are tons of good holsters out there and some work for some people and don't for others. As many will tell you though just don't go cheap on your holster or belt for that matter. The holster and belt choice can be just as important of a decision than which gun you want to carry.

Agreed with the post above. I prefer Raven as well.

If you want a plastic (i.e. Kydex holster) I think Comp-tac is making the best I have seen right now. I prefer leather. Mitch Rosen (full detail, not express) is excellent. I also use a lot of Kramer holsters. They are not as pretty as Rosen, but they are the most durable holster I have ever used.

ETA: I also like Milt Sparks holsters a lot, but I refuse to jump through the ridiculous hoops that are required ot get one these days. Brownells stocks the Summer Special II, which is a nice IWB rig, but I don't think they have it for the G21.

Comptac is probably making the best 1 piece kydex. But a lot of the 2 piece options have better retention and sit a lot flatter to your body.

The two piece are certainly a lot slimmer, but one-piece holsters actually have better retention.

I take it you've never used a Kaluban Cloak? It has a much better retention than any Comptac product I have used. The retention is based on the design instead of relying on a screw and bushing.

I haven't, but I've used a Raven Concealment. The two piece holsters do loosen up and when they do, there's no way to tighten them short of heating them up and re-forming the kydex. My RCS Phantom loosened over time and finally spit my pistol out on the floor of a public restroom.

The screws on my Comp-Tacs have never worked loose. The rubber bushing acts like a locknut and keeps the screws from turning. You can adjust the retention to be just as tight, if not tighter, than any two piece design.

For CCW I use Kingtuck or Supertuck IWB and the Glock plastic holster OWB.

I guess it comes down to preference. I would never use a 1 piece design again. At the same level of retention, a 2 piece feels much better on the draw than a 1 piece because the pressure is even across, not loaded on one side.

I've had screws loosen on Comp-Tacs. It's probably just as common as having an RCS spit out guns on floors.

Good point, it's really an "and" rather than an "or."

I've got innumerable draws from a variety of holster styles and I've never once noticed: "hmm the right side of the pistol was in there a lot tighter than the left."
No offense, but you are one strange dude.

No offense taken. I just prefer the feel of the draw better from the two piece designs given equal retention. This is speaking strictly to OWB setups.
