 92FS vs M9A1

I love my 92FS. I've narrowed my collection down to almost all Glock handguns, but I can't and won't get rid of my 92FS. It shoots like a dream and never fails me. So, I 'm thinking of gettting the M9A1 to get the rail to run a light. Does anyone have both? If so, a couple of questions:

Will the M9A1 fit in a USGI flap holster? Or do the rails make it too wide?

Besides the rails, are the pistols identical? (BTW, my 92FS is the PS version)

Any other comments comparing to two pistols would be helpful!

I have the 92A1 and it will not fit into a Bianchi military flap holster unless you really jam it in there. I also know the M9A1 has checkering on the front and back grip straps.

Thanks for that info.

So, is the entire US military switching to the M9A1? Maybe a running change???

Why the M9A1 and not the 92A1? You get a couple of added features with the 92a1 that you don't get with the M9a1.

Not interfering with your question to the OP, but I really wish they would have put the checkering from the M9A1 on the 92A1. Its not like its a hard recoiling pistol but it would of been a nice touch.

Personally, I prefer the regular 92 serrations. To me, the checkering on the M9A1 isn't that great. Its not very sharp, not like a 1911. Its rather shallow. I've always found the regular serrations to be much grippier.

You are right, I would buy the 92A1, I can't stand the M9 sights.

I just sent my M9A1 slide off for nighhtsights to be installed by tooltech. Not that big of a deal.

Well if the checkering is not what I think it to be then never mind, they can keep it.

I would go with the 92A1 as well since nightsights can easily be installed front to back as long as one has a sight tool. I recently changed mine to a set of Trijicons and it was quite easy. They use whatever sights that fit on the 90-Two.

If they are in California then the 92A1 is not on the DOJ list of approved pistols as of right now, however the M9A1 is.

I have both.

Asides from the rail,, frame roll mark, beveled magazine well, and different texture on the backstrap they are the same thing.

Get it if you want/need a light, otherwise there really isn't a need for the M9A1.
