 I REALLY want a SAO M9/92

Have there ever been any rumors or prototypes of a standard M9/92FS with a frame mounted safety that allows for single action carry? That would be the perfect full sized pistol in my opinion. I don't care for the other bells and whistles like you see on the Steel II or Billenium.

I think the Steel series is as close as you're going to get. An original 92 will have a frame safety but not SAO.

I'm sure someone, somewhere has a super rare prototype.

If you want to carry cocked and locked, why not a 1911? Springfield, among others, makes them in 9mm.

Have multiple 1911s. I just like the ergonomics of the Beretta.

I have a Steel I and I find the ergonomics of the pistol disappointing.

I thought you could modify the part on the frame that decocks the weapon, thus making it at least able to be carried cocked and locked. I've looked at mine and it seems like it would be fairly easy, would it mess with the other safety features?

You can modify the frame to allow a normal 92 model to be carried condition 1 (but the folks at the BEretta Forum will try very hard to tell you how unsafe it is because the lever is on the slide), but I don't know what can be done to the Steel or Billennium models with frame-mounted levers. I've never been presented with an opportunity to touch one, let alone take it apart.

Don't some of the Taurus 92 versions allow for cocked and locked?
