brand new Italian made 92FS groups ~ 2" low, and 2" left.

this was with 4-5 sets of groups between 7 and 10 yards away. it did this with both federal and winchester ammo.

I know i can tap the rear sight over, but, can i somehow get a lower rear sight to replace this one?

my USA made 92FS is zeroed perfectly- bullseyes.

thanks for any help / advice

I know you have another 92 for reference. But try benching the gun on sandbags and give it a shot at 7 yards. Just to make sure its not you

I've owned 2 Beretta 92's. An early 90's one that was point of aim, and a newer one that shoots what would be called "6 O' clock aim", where the target sits above the sights.

I'd just fix the 2" left issue with some tapping.

For the vertical issue, I'd just always remember that gun shoots more with the front sight obscuring the target, vs. point of aim or 6 O' Clock, though I will admit this solution would bother alot of people.

Beretta sells a kit with multiple rear sights, which I heard is not very sturdy. CDNN has it for $18.99. But again, I've read bad reviews.

Alternatively, they sell an adjustable rear sight for target guns that will fit the 92 as well, if this really bothers you. I prefer to keep simple iron sights and remember where the impact is for each gun.

My U.S. made 92SF shot low (you need a taller rear sight) so I bit the bullet & got the factory 'adjustable" rear for $70.
Using the tallest of the 3 blades furnished finally nailed it.
Mine is also blessed with a horrid trigger pull in both SA & DA, along with some trigger slap in SA, which I can live with.

Ok, so the last thing i want on a brand new gun is to have the rear sight sitting so far to the right its about to fall off the slide.

Im wondering if a new barrel is the key to making this work right without messing with the sights.

I was thinking about swapping the barrel out of my USA made 92FS and putting it in the Italian one and seeing if it shoots square then... and if so, buy a replacement barrel.

opinions?

good plan. Great thing about the 92 is you can swap parts till you figure out whats wrong

ok-

So i switched barrels.

the USA made barrel went into the Italian made Beretta perfectly.

The Italian made barrel in the USA made Beretta would NOT allow the USA made 92 to be fully assembled..... You put it all together, try to run the slide backwards on the frame to lock it up- and it binds and you cant get it past the locking lever....

SO...... seems to me the Italian barrel assembly is FUBAR.... machined wrong...

or is this common, as in the Italian barrels are intentionally machined different than USA barrels?

I'm only speculating, but perhaps Beretta parts need to be individually fitted to the gun, unlike alot of modern CNC machined guns. I've never swapped more than a guide rod and recoil spring on mine.

Please post some pictures of the barrel. Locking block area, chamber, front, etc.

There should be no problem in switching barrels between USA and Italy made 92FS pistols.

from the naked eye, i can see NO difference in the two barrels / locking blocks so I am not sure any pictures would help.

RANGE REPORT-

I shot the swapped out gun today. The Italian 92FS that was shooting 2"low+2"left - was now DEAD ON with the USA made barrel at 7 yards, on sand bags, i got EIGHT out of ten bullseyes. i used sandbags to remove the variable that maybe i was the problem.

So, maybe its time to find a new Italian made barrel ( i dont like mismatched guns ) or, could i send this barrel back to Beretta and get a new one in exchange?
