So I just recently bought an older well abused police trade-in 92fs and decided to cerakote it. Prior to ripping it apart, function testing showed it to be dirty, but fully functional. Now, however when I function test after reassembly it will not catch in half cock at all. The hammer is either fully forward or cocked. Trigger pull single and double action feels normal, but the other symptom the gun is showing is that if you pull the slide all the way to the rear and release it, sometimes the hammer will return foward with the slide (this happens randomly Without the safety engaged.)
Ive taken it back apart several times.. Cant figure out what I fubar'd... At least the gun looks pretty. Any hels is greatly appreciated!

Don't release the slide slowly. I have a stoeger cougar that does the same thing if you hold it while letting it spring back the hammer wont follow all the time. If I pull it back and let it go it will do it correctly everytime. Mine doesn't have a half cocked feature so I can't help you with that.

Thanks for your reply.
I meant that the hammer returns forward when I slingshot the slide, or pull it all the way to the rear and release. I haven't been riding it forward.
Honestly I could have goofed on assembly, but im not sure where.
You need to check the sear spring to make sure it is in correctly. Sear spring or a chipped sear are the only things I can think of that would cause that problem.

Replaced the sear spring, both problems solved! Thanks P08!
yes, you should replace all of the frame's springs. also, check for freedom of movement of the trigger bar. it needs to be very smooth and lubed.
