I have had one big gripe with my M&P. I left Glock because of the Glock hump and the lack of a beaver tail. The M&P has a great beaver tail and less of a hump, but the hump is there and just moved higher up. This left me feeling like I did not have enough to grip up under the beaver tail and to much to grip towards the bottom to get a good grip. I felt like I didn't have as much control over Muzzle Flip with my M&P as I did with Glock.
Tonight I took a razor sharp knife to my large grip insert and trimmed off everything that did not feel right. I took it off in small slivers until, I felt it fit my hand perfectly and then I stippled it. So far I am very happy with the results. I took it out back and fired 3 rounds as a quick test and so far all smiles. My M&P feels a lot more like a fat 1911 in my hand now than it did before. So far Very happy.
I do not have a working dremel right now, nor do I have a wood burning tool or a soldering iron. I used a pairing knife and a wire heated over a propane flame. I am OK with the results I got but I am interested in trying this again with proper tools. Anyway a fun way to spend an evening. I also took a step towards one of my other gripes and I ordered an Apex FSS and RAM.
Grip whittled down
Finished Product

? I just used the small grip insert. Any pics of finished product?
The small insert is what I was using before I did this. Had the same problem with the small one, Yes I will upload crappy cell phone pics
Thanks for the idea, I will have to try this.
Looks decent... I need to try that on my Glock 19.

great idea to try it on the large that was.. if its messed up no loss,, i might give this a go...
If you have any skill at all with your hands its retarded simple. I just hacked away at it with the knife. I want to do another with a dremel tool and a sanding drum... I may under cut the trigger gaurd and the beaver tail also.
