Little bit of carbon build up around the muzzle....can't get it clean. Any potential issues?

Right around the crown of all things on my threaded barrel. I haven't seen this before on a handgun, and am just wondering if it could cause any issues. There is a little bit by the bevel where the rifling starts, but most of it is on the flat portion (IE the part that would make contact with a table if you put it standing on the muzzle.

Aside from me knowing its there, could this cause any accuracy issues?

I already soaked the thing in slip carbon remover for a few hours but theres still spots....and I'd like to avoid scraping the shit off

Ignore it. You will cause more harm than good messing with it.

Soak the barrel in boiling water mixed with a small scoop of powdered dishwashing soap. (I used the Cascade we have under the sink here.) Give it an hour or so.

I've done this with a gun after using the method on a couple old stainless steel coffee pots that we 'retired' because no amount of scrubbing removed the coffee stain/build up.

The results were amazing and NO scrubbing.

Very interesting. I may give that a shot tomorrow before work.

I did do a little scrubbing and scraping around the very outside just to make sure it was carbon and not the finish or something else, and its definitely carbon....but for obvious reasons I'm not going to scrape anywhere near where the bevel starts.....

Though honestly I figure given that my precision AR's all have timed muzzle devices that I never remove....carbon has a good opportunity to build up there, I've never cleaned it off, and I still get sub-moa accuracy out of them.

Probably a non issue just as heavymetal said!

Seriously. The pots were sparkling clean when we poured the water/detergent solution out. A quick rinse, and they are like new.

Let us know how this no risk remedy works for you.

I have to try this also. Carbon seems to love SS more than blued
