I can hit the slide release or just pull it back and let it go and the first round won't chamber. The blunt face of the hollow point hangs and I have to drop the mag out. It only does this with hollow points. Once it's chambered it shoots and cycles fine. Any ideas??
Old John Browning did not design it to shoot any thing but 230 gr. round nose FMJ. Some will out of the box some wont. Take it to a smith and have the throat modified. Don't try this with your dremal at home.
Try a different magazine. I had that problem with HPs and Novak/Nighthawk/ACT-Mags. I switched to Wilson 47Ds and Checkmate
Extended Hybrids and the problem went away.
Wilson 47D's normally fix this problem. They are the only 1911 magazine I use.

I would try a few different brands of HPs. My Colt won't chamber Gold Dots no matter what mags I use (even Wilson 47Ds) but will cycle some other brands,
This is a good point, Remington Golden Sabers are what I've used for the last couple of years. I've been using them ever since they were reccomended to me over on the 1911forums.
Good read - thanks for posting.
Have we determined the pistol feeds FMJ without issue?
