 Bushing unscrews with grip screw

Got a new set of grips for my Taurus PT1911 Duo Tone, but when I unscrewed the bottom screw of the right hand grip the bushing came away too, so I have the right hand grip with the screw and the bushing attached to it. The bushing doesn't extend enough below the grip for me to get a good purchase on it with pliers so I can hold it still while I unscrew the screw from it and replace it.

Anyone got any suggestions how to get it out?

OK, managed to sort it by using some blue Loctite to cover the small piece of thread of the bushing I could get at under the grip then screwed it all back to the frame. Waited 30 minutes then gave the screw a rapid high torque spin with the screwdriver and it spun out leaving the bushing behind ... thankfully.

Was then able to fit my VCD Grips.

Did you degrease the bushing to frame threads first?

Yes they were well dried out from the numerous attempts I had at getting a purchase on the bushing with pliers wrapped in kitchen towel.

Cool grips!

You should order a set of 1911 grip screws, they will fit your new grips the proper way

Glad you were able to solve the problem. Stake those grip screw bushings in place and you won't have to worry about this again. Or blue loctite 'em in.

Yes I used Blue Loctite on 'em.
