New PK 380
Hey Guys,
anyone out there seen or bought the new PK 380? I recently bought my wife a Taurus PT 58, but after seeing the PK 380 on Walthers' website, the Taurus will be up for sale so we can get the Walther. She has a P 22, and I think going to the 380 would be a good step.
Also, the website MSRP is $362, what have you guys seen in actual store or gunshow prices ?
Good luck finding ammo for it.
you can find ammo.............if you have$$$$$$
Sorry I posted this thread. The question was about the pistol- not ammo availability. I can find ammo ,that is not the problem. I simply asked if anyone had seen the gun yet.
Mods please delete this entire thread.
I thought I saw that the PK380 was coming out in May . . . ?
I haven't seen one yet myself.
Good luck finding ammo for it.
I never really understood why people did this.
If you don't have info on the topic just look and keep it moving.
I spoke to my local dealer and she said that it will probably come out in late May or Early June. I am waiting for one too.

Thanks for the reply. I actually emailed Walther's customer service yesterday to see if they would respond this week. I sold the Wife's .380 Taurus to provide the funds for it, and don't like doing without for any length of time. She still has her Walther P22 though.
Let me know when yours arrives, if you don't mind.
I want to handle one, it will be sad if the slide is made out of the same pot metal as the p22.
Please post updates when it hits the stores.. looks like a interesting little gun.
I received an email from Walther's customer service today. They are saying sometime in mid-summer. That's a pretty broad estimation. I don't know why they projected March on the model I wanted, and now saying mid-summer. When I tell a customer of mine when to expect something, that's when they can look to receive it.I'm just a one man operation, they are a huge company. You would think they could give a little better target date than "mid summer".
I posted about this gun when it was still a rumor a couple months ago. Unfortunately...the way Walther's new releases have gone leads me to believe that an announce date of May or June means January or February at the earliest.
Boot.
I saw it at SHOT and it looked decent. Very similar to the P22, a little better finish and higher grade material. My wife loves her P22 and the PK380 looks like a good way to move her up to something better defensively.
I am interested in this model too. The ad that I saw in American Rifleman made me think it was already out.
I just posted up Re: this in the Team forum...I'm interested in it too...saw the ad in the new American Rifleman this month...I"ve called my local shops and it's a no-go so far...I want to replace my Bersa Thunder 380 with this pistol, already have a P99 and P99C in 9MM, and a P22.

Smiths website says its a steel frame, slide and barrel. Higher quality that the zinc slide of the p22 but i thought that the frame would be polymer

The ones I handled at SHOT were polymer frame and the slide appeared to be of steel, not zinc.
Also, one of the gun magazines, possibly Guns and Ammo, had a write up on one this month. I saw it on the cover in the store the other day.

I don't know much about them other than I saw them in a recent American Rifleman mag. I have P22 and I love this little gun. I'd really like to know more about the 380 version of this gun, might have to get one!
Still no word yet, eh? I'm still watching and waiting for these!
Mine is still on order- no other word yet.

I heard today that Gander Mountain in Jackson,Tn had received a shipment of the PK380 - $369.00
Awesome news if only it is true! I hope so cause Ive been waiting a while for these!
Has anyone found any more of these? I have been waiting but haven't seen any around....
I just got an email back from customer support at Smith and Wesson (Walther site) and he said these pistols will ship to distributors in late October.... they ARE coming guys. I'm going to get one as soon as I find one available. In these summer months I've worn my P22 much more than my Glock 23, WAAAAAAY more comfortable with shorts and a tshirt. If I had this gun in 380 i'd feel much better about the weapon I'm concealing.

I'm in Jackson, I haven't seen them. Doesn't mean some weren't here, just I didn't see them.
i've had my name on the list at my local gun shop for about 3-4 weeks now, and they called this morning saying they got 5 in @ $359 each. i've got them holding one for me; i'm working all weekend so i won't get by there till monday. i'll update then.
check out Gunbroker! they have some on there.
Before you buy check out the PPS in 9mm. Great handgun, I love mine.
And the 9mm is a much better sd round than .380.
picked up my pk380 today at the local gun shop (ed's FTW) for $359. it only came w/ one mag

, but otherwise looks great and handles great. of course, it's raining today, so bear with me on a range report. i will say, i was impressed enough with it that i put money on another to hold it for my buddy; he had asked me to do so if i liked it. and of course, they were out of ball .380.......
Looked at one at my local shop today. They are not what I expected. They are biger that the P22 and seem to be made very cheaply. Needless to say I wont be buying one.

its not that much bigger though
its about the size of a PPS but styled after the P99 and P22

Can you give us some specifics as to why you said they seem to be made very cheaply? Do you feel the P22 is also made cheaply? Thanks

i can't speak for cib911, but i have noticed:
1. the 380 is slightly bigger than than the 22, but i expected that. the grip is wider and longer (taller?), although not by much
2. the mag release on the 380 is
much better (easier to operate) than the 22.
3. the 380 is heavier, but not by much
i won't say the p22 is cheaply made, but then i did only pay $250 for it. at $360, compared to prices i've paid for other brand name handguns that i can't conceal as easily, it (the 380) works for me. and i did find 380 today for $30/100
YMMV; hope this helps. to compare:
very nice. i just got an lcp to fill my 380 void

Nice. Thanks for the info. You shoot it yet?
Finally got mine today after ordering it back in March. $370, not too bad a price. Seems to be well made, will try it out tomorrow.

finally saw one here in VA, i wasn't impressed with, i'll probably still get one cause its a walther, but it doesn't seem to have the qualty of my P99 or my PP2
I'll keep it short: My wife and I shot it today, and like it very much. More accurate than my Beretta 92FS.
Why would Walther make a .380 that's bigger in every dimension than their 9mm? Does the PK380 hold 20+ rounds? Not hating, just trying to understand. Thanks.
i dont think it bigger than the 9mm, i think its bigger than the .22, i could be wrong tho. personally i dont care for the PPS, but love my P22
The PK380 is very close to the P22. Controls feel and are placed the same as the P22, that's why I bought one for the Mrs. A natural move up in caliber, the 9mm is alittle much for a small frame Mrs.
Was just at the range with my buddy who just bought one. We put 200 flawless rounds through it. It fits my hands really nicely, and is a great shooter. Slide feels like it is on slick glass. We tried to jam it up by limp wristing it, etc. Was perfect.
I just picked mine up from Pickett on Wednesday, have not been to the range yet (got company in) but will get it out there this weekend.
I really like the feel of it, it's a little tricky to reassemble after cleaning but a lot of those little semi-autos are challenging to put together, so no big deal.
Anybody got a line on a holster for this baby?
Bryan
Walther's website shows a holster fot the PK.

Why is this your response when someone is asking about a firearm? (it might be a valid point but that is not what was asked, maybe after he finds the gun he will start a new thread where to find ammo) Are you just trying to get your posts up, if you don't have any input to the question asked just read and leave. Furthermore you there is .380 ammo available. You don't know if the guy has 3,000 rounds of .380 acp lying around his basement and he just needs a gun to shoot it with, so stop assuming things.
I finally got to handle one in my favorite fun store today. It looks like a nicer finished version of the P22, but it is bigger in several dimensions to my PPS. Still it's a nice size, just not as compact as I am used to seeing .380 autos. It does feel nice and points naturally for me. It won't replace my old PPK, but it's a nice gun.
My FFL doesn't have any .380 on his shelves, but if you purchase (or have purchased from him) a .380 he will offer you up to 8 boxes of ammo from the back room at a VERY good price. He says while he's having a hard time stocking this calliber he will only sell it to people who have purchased their guns from him. Works for me!
Davesrb
I'd love to hear more stories about how they shoot, CCW, et cetera.
I picked mine up about 5 days ago as a suprise for my GF to shoot since she loves the P22, but unfortunately shes really small and weak and cant rack the slide on the PK. I listed it on a local gun forum and already sold it without ever shooting it. Normally I would have went and put 50-100 rounds through it just to see how it shoots but didn't get the chance to this time. It is a very good feeling gun much like the P22 and P99s but I have no use for a 380 other than my LCP. It was supposed to be her gun but I guess Im now in the market for a SW 442 for her.

Given the current climate, I also feel
this is a valid opinion/question.
I have actively been searching for >10 months for my PPK/S- nada. It is easier to find 9, .40 and .45 than .380!
A guy at the range was selling three .380s and a .22 pistol . He had a van-load of ladies suddenly interested in owning a handgun.
They were in the lane next to me, and I heard one of the ladies - who was actually quite attractive - ask about ammo availability...... Don't know if he made the sale.
The fanciest gun w/out ammo is like a Ferrari w/out fuel. Sure looks good tho.
If you have the fuel - melt those tires!!

PPK/S. Deutch or Smith?
380 shortages must be a regional thing. I see it everywhere here in South Alabama. Prices are higher, but that is not the issue.
