how does the euro stack up vs the p7m8, the m8 looks like an early usp style lever, but I have never gotten my hands on one
The P7 released at the heel of the butt. The P7M8 released behind the trigger guard similar to the USP series. The M8 release is faster b/c you can do it with the trigger finger of your shooting hand, whereas the P7 needs your support hand to release. Either version will eject the mag very positively.
Just know that the magazines are not interchangeable and neither are most of the holsters.
I actually prefer the P7 mag release for a carry gun. My reasoning is that I do not carry spare magazines, so a fast relaod is not a consideration. With the euro style, the mag will not likely be accidentally dislodged.
For a combat or competition pistol (or if you carry around three spare magazines planning for the zombie apocolypse

), the P7M8 mag release style is far superior.
I can still do a fairly quick reload with the heel release version.
I've run the PSP at several matches and had no trouble doing a fast reload or confusing the mag release
The heel magazine release, in combination with the large lip on the bottom from of the P7 magazine, makes changes quick.
Not as quick, I'm sure as the P7M8, where it drops free, IIRC, and you can already have a second mag in your off hand, but quicker than most heel release guns.
