Old USP (purchased in 1994) - change to LEM trigger

Soooo, I finally decided to pull the trigger and ordered a LEM kit (and the trigger rebound spring I heard I needed) for my USP .40 that I bought in 1994. I mentioned in the comment section that I has a USP form 1994 and I received an email back from the company that my order was canceled because HK recommends they do the install because of modifications that have been made over the course of time.

I haven't heard of this before - have any of you heard of this? If I have to send it in then I'm thinking about the LEM/Match hybrid trigger and maybe the adjustable night sites as well.

Any suggestions or comments?

EARLY USP 9/40s had a different configuration and require a different set of parts to convert to LEM.

If you have a USP 45, all of them have the new configuration.

They might be recommending you send it in just to make sure you get the correct parts set.

Your old USP likely has the wrong catch for the LEM so it really does need to go to HK for the install. Look at the instructions for installing the LEM kit on HKPRO and see if your pistol has the old one piece or the current two piece catch. If it has the old one piece catch the LEM kit is a no-go and HK will have to upgrade your pistol to the two-piece catch.
